We stayed at the penthouse which is on the 5th floor. The elevator takes you up to 4th floor and then you need to take the stairs. I was traveling with my old mom and was a bit worried about this situation but things went well. The Istiklal street is 5 minutes away by walk and the slope is not bad at all. The location of this apartment is exceptional with all the cafes/restaurant and Istiklal/Taksim being few minutes away from you. The host was great and responsive all the time. I've had the best time staying in this apartment and would definitely go back again!

Property info

Casa di Bava is a living piece of history and a story continually being written. Built as the home of Captain Bava in the 1880’s for its dockside vicinity and central location to the commerce of the thriving Ottoman trading hub, Beyoğlu, this building was the first prominent stone build of the area and has always been rented accommodation, albeit to some rather distinguished guests. Captain Bava had no family here but chose to share his life and home with people who became his friends. Casa di Bava has stayed true to its understated levels of comfort and luxury that its guests instilled here. The building has always been and is today a place of rest and relaxation after long, tiring days and a restful solitude to unwind from the hustle and bustle of the city. Most of all it has been a place that many people from around the world have called home. Come and add your story and live some history in a place you too can call home.

We are situated in Çukurcuma, a quarter of Beyoğlu, known for its eclectic aesthetic much admired by artists, writers, and actors. The cafes and restaurants offer authentic Turkish cuisine and sit alongside contemporary wine and cocktail bars. Then and now this area was home to many European and traders of the world, the prominent and affluent population modernized this part of İstanbul, allowing for influxes of technology, fashion, and arts.
