Sun, Sand and The Strip!
One of the best Algarve resorts, Albufeira has wonderful beaches, turquoise waters and the dramatic, rocky coastline that makes this part of Portugal so special.
Naturally, life here is all about sun, sand and sea. The most popular Albufeira beach is Fisherman’s Beach and you can still see locals bringing in the fishing boats every morning - if you’re up early enough, that is. Tunnel Beach is accessed through an opening in the cliff, and both have a variety of water sports.
Further up the coast is Albufeira Marina, from where sightseeing boat trips depart, while east of the town is the 9-hole Balaia golf course. On the way here, you pass Arias de Sao João, home to The Strip where the best bars and clubs are found, many staying open until the early hours.
The Old Town of Albufeira is more peaceful, and its cobbled streets house Moorish buildings and some great restaurants serving fresh fish. If you fancy a day trip from Albufeira, the 12th-century remains of Moorish Almoáda Castle in Paderne can be visited for free.
The town is around a 45 minute drive from Faro Airport and there is a fantastic range of beach resorts, small B&Bs and Albufeira apartments at Booking.com.

Didnt like the area at all, its only fit for groups of lads and maybe girls, but if I was a woman I wouldnt feel safe there. The streets are horrendous with bricks and loose rubble evrywhere, it looks completly run down, nothing attractive about it at all.

Albufeira is a lovely beach town with a lot of kid friendly activities and nice options for the grown ups like cliff hiking too. The beaches are excellent. There are a lot of restaurants in town and various cuisines. Multiple beach resorts make it a perfect location for family vacations. Its very easy to reach from Faro airport or train station. In town its easy to move around via Uber etc, but best to have a rental car, there is parking easily available everywhere. Albufeira is very hilly so you should factor in taxi's etc to get around if you have any mobility issues, particulary heading west from the centre. We went in the first week in May and it was, we thought very busy and certainly very noisy in the centre from the. It seems to be a magnet for Stag and Hen parties and/or large groups of men / women of all ages who like to party. We used our Albufeira as a base and explored other local Towns on foot and using Taxi's. A good party place if that floats your boat if you are loking for quiet evenings for food and drink then maybe choose elsewhere- there are lots of places on the Algarve that we have stayed in/visited.

Loved it all, great holiday all round for families/stags/hens/couples/all ages. Boat trip along Algarve into caves with private beach BBQ amazing and all day event. Staff everywhere really friendly and courteous. Food great, enough choice for all palettes.

Ok, the condo was excellent.
Ok, the condo was excellent. The owner has only one condo so its privately owned meaning its equipped with pretty much all necessities. Well located and tbh...better than i expected. Pictures don't quite render the size. Its very comfortable. It's also gated. Driving inside was surprising to see a 100 foot long entrance completely covered with overhanging trees. Gives it a bit of a royal feel. The condo faces the pool side not the driveway so that's a plus. You can also see the ocean from your terrace. The walk down to the ocean is a bit steep but so is everything in Portugal. Its less than 5 minutes downhill. Now for the part i didn't enjoy as much: Albufeira itself. Its slowly losing it's flavor by becoming americanized with boutiques, restaurants and gift shops. If that's your thing you'll be well served. One night, searching for a power voltage converter i ended up in a somewhat debauchery street with a strip club, sex shop, bars galore, people all over the street and neons advertising loud music and parties. I have nothing against this and it is very reminiscent of Ibiza nightlife but its a sign of change. This was maybe 2km from the condo so not in the immediate viscinity. By the way, i found the converter on that very street in a gift shop so...maybe i shouldn't complain. :) Enjoy!

Reception staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The apartment had everything we needed in it and Aldi is about 10 mins walk away. We had 2 single beds pushed together which were very comfortable and we got fresh towels and beds were dressed daily. The grounds of the hotel and the pool were all kept clean and there were enough sunbeds for the week we were there.

We were 5-10 minutes away from all the bars/restaurants in the beautiful old town (where it was much more noisy than on the street of our hotel). My favorite thing was the location and the balcony which opened beautiful scenery to the city, the palm trees and the sea. The hosts were also nice, check in was easy. Staff was friendly.
