Everything about the room and the shared spaces is great. Flawlessly clean. Tastefully decorated. Well equipped. The common TV-sofa makes it feel like a home-stay. This place is a good spot for hiking up the mountain. There is a steep path PR21 that leads up to encumeada from which there are several excellent hiking trails, and another equally steep unmarked path more to the west leading up to PR17 which is a truly amazing levada walk.

A secluded retreat surrounded by unspoiled forests, Eira do Serrado overlooks the Valley of the Nuns and the picturesque village of Curral das Freiras.

Great location with excellent views. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Onsite restaurant was also really good. Overall a great base for exploring the mountains. I have seen some reviews complaining about facilities - yes it's not a 5 star luxury hotel but you arent paying those prices. Would certainly stay again

The rooms were a nice size and the beds were comfortable. There was a lift to save you from having to take bags on the stairs. The hotel was quiet enough and the roar of the waves loud as it was directly across the from the ocean which I enjoyed .The staff were friendly and thoughtful. The restaurant was good serving breakfast and then in the evening they had dinner. The hot tub was large but only really hot two of the four nights. The hotel was very clean and had many spots to sit and relax outside of the room. There was also a bar up a bunch of stairs that had a Birds Eye view.

Solar da Bica is a cozy and tranquil retreat. This comfortable guest house faces the mountains and has green natural surroundings. The Solar features accommodations in rooms and an apartment.

Nice little place. I couldn't decide if it was a small hotel or a big BnB but it worked. The view was very nice. We could see all the stars at night from our balcony. Breakfast was pretty good.

This is the perfect apartment to use as a hiking base for the Valley of Nuns (Curral das Freiras) and surrounding mountains. Apartment is fairly basic but has everything needed and was so perfectly situated. We would definitely book this apartment again.
