Right from the airplane, we were awed by the immensity of the Amazon rainforest. The rainforest was a unique experience. Taking boat rides in the Tambopata river were very relaxing. Don't forget to enjoy the stars if it's a clear night. Spotting wildlife bugs could be a challenge but was also fun. Our resort was very nice and we took night and day walking tours. Overall, I would recommend taking the opportunity to unplug for a couple of days, opening your eyes and ears to the sounds of the rainforest, and taking in every moment of the experience. Practical tips include wearing light full sleeved clothing, carrying a torch, camera, good shoes and binoculars, and a book to enjoy in your mosquito bed in the evening :)
