Ollantaytambo, the hidden gem of the Sacred Valley ! more people should investigate and spend their time in Ollantaytambo, instead of booking their time in Cusco or anywhere else, within the Sacred Valley. We made Ollantaytambo our home base for our Sacred Valley visit and were glad we did. It was small enough to walk everywhere, the train station, the square, the archaeological park, the original pre-colonial section of town. We visited in the low season in the last half of February and enjoyed the smaller number of visitors.

We messed up our communication and did not get tickets to Machu Picchu. Do your research and purchase tickets BEFORE you arrive…months in advance for high season. Nevertheless we toured the archeological wonders of the Sacred Valley— Temples of the sun and moon and more. It was very spiritually powerful and architecturally awe inspiring, did not feel like a consolation prize for missing MP…. Just a reason to come back. Do not miss this tour if you are hire… and hire the guide. It’s worth it. Food was great here too.

We loved this town. In total we stayed 3 nights. And would've preferred to stay another night instead of returning to Cusco. The restaurants are plenty and good, the people are so nice, and the coffee shops are nice. Hiking all around, and the ruins and market are enjoyable. Both walking everywhere is good and getting a taxi is also easy.

We decided to go there straight from Cusco to be better acclimatized before heading to Machu Picchu. We visited sites like the salt mines along the way to Ollantaytambo and stayed in Cusco at the end of our trip. Our accommodation host Alex did all of the arranging and was super helpful. Ollantaytambo was a great start to our trip. A very safe town full of culture that is easy to get around. The Inca sun temple was definitely worth visiting and we highly recommend getting one of the guides who will explain all of the significances of the site. Highly recommend visiting Ollantaytambo and where we stayed. It was a great start to our vacation!

This small town between Cusco and Aguas Calientes is the perfect spot to get acclimated to high altitude, enjoy excellent restaurants and coffee shops, buy beautiful art and jewelry, learn from the Inca culture, and relax after visiting Machu Picchu. We stayed 2 nights and it was just perfect!

The location is wonderful - at the base of the mountain away from the bustle and noise of the day trippers and train station. Rooms on the second floor has a fantastic view of the sun setting across the valley. The staff was very welcoming and gave great advice on restaurants. We were departing on the 6:40am train and the staff had breakfast laid out for us in the restaurant. One of my favorite things about Ollantaytambo is walking the ageless stone passages - it's part of the allure of this magical valley.

The boss couple are very nice and helped us a lot. We chose to stay here for 2 nights on our round trip from Machu Picchu. The hotel has a nice little garden, the room is very clean, the bed is big and comfortable, and the towels are of good quality. Very close to the train station but very quiet. The breakfast was good, the coffee and bread were delicious. The price is also very good, it is the best hotel around!

Location is great! Close to the ruins, the view was amazing! Walking distance to everything. The family that owns this hotel is very sweet and made me feel welcomed and safe. They even helped me get to the train station via moto taxi very quickly due to my driver not being able to locate me. I was able to make my train to Machu Picchu. They are very accommodating and I slept great after a long day.

The staff were so kind and went the extra mile with every request, even helping us carry our bags to grab a tuk tuk to the train station. The location cannot be beat as it is 10meters from the entry of the Ollantaytambo ruins. The main plaza is just a minute or two walking down the road. Would absolutely recommend to anyone staying a night or two in Ollantaytambo!

The location is literally steps away from the Inca ruins and only a 10 minute easy walk to the train station. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby to choose from. The showers had hot water, the wifi was strong, and overall everything was clean. The owners made it an exceptional stay and were very friendly, helpful, and prepared a wonderful breakfast for us.

Great location, just one block from the main plaza, 1 block from the Inca archaeological site, and 4 blocks from the train station. Hosts were really nice and attentive, helped us putting together a tailor made tour to the sacred valley with a private driver. The room is small but enough, the bathroom is outdated but with hot water and really clean.
