This was not a part of our plans, just to get a nights rest before flying home. We went directly from the airport to Cusco, and this was the only way we could get to our return flight. As it was, I made a mistake on the timing of the flight (1am not 1pm) and so we had an extra whole day in the city. We really enjoyed it. The first day we did the tourist bus from Miraflores, and that was ok (tough to understand the English part of the dual language tour). We then checked out the coastal area briefly before going back. Day 2 was an adventure because I had messed up the flight timing. We made the best out of it by renting a car and going back to some of the areas we saw the previous day. We found a great vegan restaurant and got to check out the beaches, which are VERY different than anywhere I've been in the world, and I have traveled for 20 years on business. The people are pretty nice but almost exclusively speak Spanish. Google translate is your friend. A lot of drama getting to the airport at night, the traffic at 9pm was so crazy. But we certianly saw enough that we really don't need to go back. Two days is good for this place. And in our two days, it was really 18 hours total.

Lima is an amazing city.
Lima is an amazing city. If you are a city person you will enjoy. We stayed in Miraflores and walked a lot. Many great restaurants to explore. Loads of parks. People watching. We never felt unsafe. Historical Lima is great to stroll and take in the history. Ceviche ceviche and more ceviche. China town and the market. Request your pisco sour dry if you don't like sweet cocktails. I would go back in a heart beat!

This is not in Lima but in Playa Zorritos.
This is not in Lima but in Playa Zorritos. The condo unit was generally ok but it was missing things like a toaster, knives that can cut, a choice of pillows, sheets that fit and were not threadbare. Overall things needed to be painted.

Lima is one of the best cities in the world if you are into culinary delights. It is also a great place to visit if you enjoy a rich history from ancient to modern times, with great architecture and archeological remains.
The people in Lima are super friendly and if you stay in a tourist area you will find that many people speak and/or understand English.
Some of my favorite spots include the Historic Center of Lima; most of the museums; the most recommended restaurants, the beaches, and some of the Shopping Malls.

In Lima, there is so much to do and visit.
In Lima, there is so much to do and visit. I recommend doing a tour with a local tour guide. Uber is the best way to travel and is reasonably priced. I love Peruvian cuisine, and the restaurant scene is a must if you are going to visit.

We stayed only one night in Lima and we felt it is just enough time to visit.
The city is huge with a lot of poor housing and doesn't feel very safe.
The recommended tourist spots took as just half a day to visit - so we had time to roam around the local artisanal market to buy souvenirs, and to sit in one park and just relax.
The main square was almost closed for pedestrians due to some demonstration happening later during the day, so there was a lot of police there. Probably, that's why it felt rather safe around.
The Palace and the Cathedral were closed for this reason, but I assume it would not take us too long to visit them and should be manageable in one day.
The Santo Domingo market we accidentally found is really a great spot to buy souvenirs - as the prices are at least twice cheaper than on the street shops. They do not accept cards, but agreed to take US dollars at a great exchange rate when we ran out of Soles.
The Kennedy park is just a joke - a tiny playground overcrowded with local kids. What is even more disappointing about Lima is that this playground looks to be the only one in the whole 10-million city, which was really shocking to my kids: for example in the Malecon de Miraflores the so-called kids playground is just an area where you can play with a ball that you brought from home, and nothing else - not even a single swing or slide.
The restaurants in Lima look to be way too overpriced, especially knowing the average cost of living in Peru in general. The one we visited was fine, but the one I found in Machu Picchu was even better.
In a nutshell, if you need to save time for other places in Peru, like Cusco - you can easily avoid staying in Lima at all: you won't loose too much. If you have time, Lima is a nice city to visit, but I can't imaging myself staying longer than 1 night and don't have high expectations.
This is my second stay at Second Home Peru (so that says everything. The building represents to me, Peru. It is a huge old mansion with lots of wood, art and a small bar for Piscos. and a simple breakfast included. Owners are super friendly/helpful, as are the people who work there. For me, Barranco is my preferred neighbourhood in Lima. A bit more character and calmness than miraflores and filled with great restaurants and coffee shops. But Miraflores is a 30/45 min. walk away along the boardwalk to other great food places.
Janet and her staff are just amazing. Very kind, helpful and great service. Even made me amazing vegan breakfast every morning. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Miraflores, but in a small quiet street, so you can have a good rest. The rooms are spacious and spotless with all amenities you need (and more). In almost 4 months traveling, this was by far the best place I stayed at and I can only recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, central, clean home away from home in Lima.
Set in a stunning building, the hostel is right across Lima's Museo de Arte and Parque de la Exposición, the location is convenient enough to allow exploring the historic centre on foot (ca. 20 mins away), get to the airport (by Uber ca. 30 mins) or head to the posher area of Miraflores (ca. 45 mins on foot).
Staff was super friendly, and they serve a filling breakfast. WiFi was strong and reliable. There's even an atm on premises. The room and bed were decent and comfy.
Great location, close to the airport and to others interesting districts like San Isidro, Callao, and Miraflores. It's not far from the centre , you need a 15/20 minutes ride by taxi.
The bed was very comfortable and the place was quiet, hot water for shower. no problem. Just what you need after a whole day touring in Lima.
Breakfast is made fresh for you. Javier y Juan helped with any questions and advised where to go and what to visit.
I would stay here again!
Mama, who runs the hostel, is really friendly and helpful. breakfast was the best we have had in ages and the hostel is exceptionally clean.
the showers aren’t very powerful but the water is hot. wifi was also good. the only downside was the location, it’s safe but quite far from central Lima and other tourist areas however Ubers are cheap and a plus side is the hostel is closer to the airport than other areas.
Great place to stay in Lima in one of the best locations in Miraflores, you just can walk to Larco, many restaurants and shopping stores. Very safe location as well.
Gabriela is very friendly and she will make sure you’ll get anything needed in a timely manner.
This place is very comfortable, you will have everything needed for a great stay.
Very recommended! :)
The hotel is lovely with an elegant touch. It located in Miraflores which is a nice section of town The staff is exceptional! Everyone who helped us was friendly, highly trained and effective. Breakfast is home cooked and delicious. The rooms are spacious and attractive. The hotel is pet friendly with a garden in the back for your pet to explore.
Comfortable hotel in beautiful and safe Miraflores. Great location close to the ocean, parks, artesanal markets. Friendly and very helpful staff. Very good breakfast. Excellent onsite restaurant. Very clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Lots of nice restaurants and coffee shops in the surrounding area. I highly recommend this place.
The front desk staff were extremely helpful. They paid our taxi fare when we were short of cash. They booked an early morning taxi to airport for us. The room was very quite and decorated with tastes. The hotel was very well located with minutes walk to the Kennedy Park, where all Miraflores actions nearby.
1. The location. In Miraflores and airport bus have a stop in front of the hotel. After a long haul flight, I need to find a place to have easy access from and to the airport so that I can catch the plane the day after. This is the best choice.
2. Spacious room and sparkles clean.
3. Breakfast included.
The hotel is located on a quiet street in Miraflores and is close to a number of nice restaurants. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was delicious. Additionally, the hotel provides a low price taxi service to the airport (USD20), which is conveniently added to the final bill.
The hotel organised our pick up from airport. We arrived quite late at night. The room was very comfortable and Ana Maria was so welcoming. The breakfast was very good with lots of fruit! Location is amazing. We could walk to Hauca Puclana and around Miraflores. Highly recommend.
This hotel has one of the best locations in Miraflores. Very convenient to everything including malls, Kennedy Park, and bus station. Hotel is clean, and with staff members speaking fluent English. Breakfast is good. Reasonable Wi-Fi throughout the hotel including roof top.
close to Lima airport if you need a short stay.
florangel was amazing. Gave us tea and some snacks for no extra charge. our last day in Peru was horrible due to covid, we wouldnt board our flight. miraflores picked us up and accomodated us last minute.
Best location in Miraflores. Hotel is located two blocks away from Parque Kennedy, the fact that it is located in a dead-end street makes it completely quiet, no traffic noise. You'll be able to hear birds chirping in the morning.
Location was very good. In Miraflores, which is a safe and relaxing area of Lima. It's near the waterfront and Larcomar mall, which is by the water. Service was professional and friendly. Rooms were nice and clean.
We needed hotel near airport. It is about 20-30min, depending on traffic. Thought it was closer.
Can be very noisy although has double glazing - near main road+airplanes
