It’s the only stop along the way south I enjoyed. Garden style accommodations, gated grounds, parking right in front of the room and there’s a restaurant on premises. Good value for the money compared to what you’ll find in Puebla or Vallahermosa.

No one was even there. The place was filthy with live roaches. I was afraid to sleep. Bed was awful, thin, used sheets . Towels were flimsy rags.
Barking dogs locked in next room. No drinking water or coffee. Second hand old furniture and tables strewn about. We couldn’t wait to get out of there…..gross!! What a horrible experience! The worst place I’ve ever tried to sleep. It should never be offered for any amount of money. It was $100 wasted.

Good quality amenities. Warm and comfortable! Great location and friendly staff. Lupe was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay.
This place should be removed from your site. It is just a huge room with a few broken down beds with dingy sheets and spreads with old lumpy pillows.tattered towels, no light switches nearby. No drinking water. Roaches crawling on the walls . A creepy scary place. Couldn’t wait for dawn so we could escape. Nothing good to remember about this sorry excuse for a la Quinta hotel. Even the name is a scam,

After the 20 hour drive this oasis was most welcome.
After the 20 hour drive this oasis was most welcome. The hotel states that only six rooms are available for travelers with pets, but I believe the hotel will open more rooms to meet the demands of dog owners. Almost all rooms have covered parking adjacent. The grounds are expansive, and is fully fenced, but if your dogs are escape artists like mine there are many exits, so keep your pets leashed. Food is good and staff are attentive. Bedding was clean and comfortable. Extensive paved bicycle paths are great for long dog walks. I recommend this hotel highly. It is a great value.

I just stay for a night so I could not see the city, but it seems to be bigger than I expected. Just be careful if you are driving a tall vehicle because there are some underground bridges and you might not fit in and have to stop the traffic.

Matehuala is not a city.
Matehuala is not a city. It's a stop off from Laredo to destinations to other destinations. It's a perfect stop off. The locals are friendly, there is a Walmart (if you are into that crap). It's a very safe and secure place for travelers. I recommend it. The people are lovely and honest.
We have stayed Las Palmas a number of times enroute from our home in Wisconsin and our second home in Patzcuaro, Mexico. It is a manageable one day drive from the border at Laredo and our final destination. The staff is always friendly and welcoming and we have found the restaurant food and service excellent. We appreciate that they allow pets. We have e dog and cat. There is a nice grassy area for walking our dog along with a nature trail. Also there is a cool and refreshing pool. We will be back!
Location, right across from the plaza with restaurants and food trucks. Staff, very helpful and professional. Secure underground parking. Breakfast buffet in their restaurant was the best I have ever had in Mexico. Many choices for hot entries to include chicken, beef and vegetarian. wonderful fruit, fruit salads and juices as well as bread, cereal, yogurt and toppings. The service was impeccable.
I liked the fact that it was next to a park where there were some vendors and food trucks serving meals and I could eat seated at a table on the sidewalk. (The restaurant at the hotel was closed for some reason and I didn't feel like going out too far to a restaurant after dark.) I also enjoyed walking to the market area late afternoon and back to get a feel of the city.
This is my third time staying at this hotel over a 10 year period. It continues to meet the needs of a short term traveler. Its a great first night stay traveling into Mexico from the USA. Parking next to my room. Comfortable bed and great shower. I had a very nice dinner at the restaurant.
Las Palmas is always fabulous. The reception people, the guy who rides his bike to show you to your room, the wait staff in the restaurant. They have made improvements in the rooms like getting rid of the carpeting and using very nice tiles instead. Bathrooms are spacious and always so clean.
Nice clean, large rooms. Good beds, pillows, and linens. The bathroom was large. There is plenty of hot water. Matehuala is an excellent overnite stop if you are heading south. Also, it is an excellent place to stay for day trips to Real de Catorce.
The hotel is super retro and well maintained. All of the staff are very friendly, and the food at the restaurant was very good! we stopped in for one night on our drive to the Yucatan. The bed was comfortable and we got a good nights sleep.
This is a popular hotel for several good reasons. Rooms are clean and spacious, all have small refrigerators, car can be parked right outside the door. There is a restaurant on site. Shower has hot-enough water with decent pressure.
The staff was very nice and helped me to get a parking spot right in front of the hotel. The location was great, but we got in late and left early so I did not get to visit. It was okay for a quick night while on the road.
Underground parking felt very secure, with elevator access to the hotel. The gentleman at the front desk when I checked in was very friendly, helpful, patient with my poor Spanish.
Gorgeous room, well-appointed. Whole property is very upscale and there are two restaurants, one specializing in breakfast, that are literally around the corner from the hotel.
They don’t charge extra for dogs; finding a Mexican hotel that takes dogs is a trick.
Good restaurant on the premises which serves a great margarita! We had a friendly waiter.
