The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!
Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Center near the waterfront, and savor the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.
Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.
For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Outdoor markets sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.
Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

Tokyo is always great as well as the locals, who are always very nice and helpful. Great place to visit and with the US dollar so strong at the moment your money goes a bit further than it used to. There are many small mom and pop restaurants which I recommend over the larger companies. Easy access rail system so it is easy to get around the city and even to other cities. No English is required to get around; a few Japanese phrases may be helpful, but there is always Google translate which does come in handy.

I loved the bus trip to Mt.Fuji so much.
I loved the bus trip to Mt.Fuji so much. On this trip it included lunch a tram ride up the mountain a pirate ship ride and a bullet train back to Tokyo. I am so glad I booked this with Viator through TripAdvisor.
I enjoyed the day at Disney Sea Park. Tokyo Tower was great. We loved being able to see Tokyo from the top of the tower. We were in Tokyo because my son was able to get tickets to Hololive Anime concert. This was totally amazing. The venue was huge. My son loved this. I would love to return to take in more. We actually enjoyed riding the trains. We took them everywhere. The people are lovely and so polite. Everything is clean and I felt safe everywhere we went.

I used to live in Tokyo and it's still one of my favorite cities in the world. You can eat an amazing quality of food for very cheap. Everyone who has visited with me always compliments the city and country on how clean it is. You absolutely do NOT need a car in Tokyo as their public transportation is always clean, safe and reliable (use Google maps to help you navigate). I'll continue to come back as often as possible and I recommend everyone visit Japan at least once.

Tokyo is safe and convenient for tourists of all age.
Tokyo is safe and convenient for tourists of all age. Both cash and credit cards are widely acceptable. Excellent place for shopping, eating and sight-seeing, so many places and activities to enjoy in Tokyo! Sakura blossoms in early April this year. Hot spring bathing is highly recommended.
My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at the start of our Japan trip, and I liked the hotel so well, I returned for one night on my own at the end. Very efficient, accommodating staff at checkin and checkout. Room was very clean with a comfortable bed and pillows. I loved the hotel's central location in Ginza and especially the little cafe on the main floor where we could relax at any time of the day. I enjoyed the feature on their menu which included the thick bacon sandwich, salad and soup. Really tasty!
Close to the Shinjuku station, so very easy to access. Typical entertainment area - the famous Godzilla statue cinema is around the corner. The hotel's lounge area is perfect for an otaku: mangas, anime DVDs all over the shelves. The hotel part very clean, less noisier than other capsule hotels. The capsule is plastic, a little bit noisy when you hit accidentally. The bed is fine...but the pillow is super old school japanese hard pillow...but within few minutes you can find out how to use to be comfy.
The hotel had a fantastic location, not too close to the busiest areas of Tokyo like Shibuya or Shinjuku and not so far that travel would be a hassle. I had a fantastic experience at the hotel, the staff was friendly and helpful and the living areas were exceptionally clean. There's a 7-11 right opposite the hotel so you have nothing to worry if you need anything 24x7. This place exceeded my expectations and I'm considering to stay here again when I visit Tokyo in the future!
I'm so used to staying in hotels in the center of tokyo that I forgot how much more space I can get for a fraction of the price just an additional 5-10 minutes away from the busy areas. Walking to the train station was a breeze and there are plenty of food options and convenience stores just a stone throw away. The rooms were extremely big from what I was used to and the prices can't be beat. It made me feel like I had a home away from home.
The hotel has a large sign that makes it easy to see from the street. The beds are harder than western ones, which seems to be typical here at least in business hotels, but are still comfortable and large enough for two people. My husband is 6’ 1” and the bed was long enough for him. we really liked how clean the room was. The staff were extremely helpful and check in and check out both went smoothly. We would stay here again.
For a three person room in Tokyo, the room was a good size.
Location was great! In a quiet part of the city close to cute park directly across the street. Within walking distance of three subway stops, a bus stop just outside the hotel, and Shinjuku station.
Breakfast was great. I was really impressed with variety of items on the breakfast and the inhouse bakery!
I really enjoyed the international staff.
This was the first of various hotels my husband and I stayed while we were visiting Japan. APA Hotels became my go to and most sought out Hotel in this AMAZING country. Every employee is courteous, the rooms are very clean and stocked with ALL the toiletries needed. Do yourself a favor and do not add more weight to your luggage, ditch your dollar store toiletries because APA has them all! Cant wait to be back
The hotel, rooms, and amenities are fantastic and the bakery downstairs makes delicious sandwiches and pastries. There is a rooftop terrace which provides nice views of the national stadium and Tokyo skyline. The location is quiet with access to nearby parks and gardens. The train station is very close and provides quick access to get around Tokyo due to the hotels central location.
I stayed there with my two years old girl and my husband. The room was very comfortable and good sized(not too small). It had two single beds and they were putted together so my little one could sleep together. All of the staffs are really friendly. The price is much affordable than Disney official hotels for sure and we can find good dine-in/to-go restaurants around there.
Fantastic and helpful staff, located in a calmer area of Tokyo away from the typical tourist destinations of Shibuya and Shinjuku. There is a subway station right next to the hotel though which makes getting around fairly convenient if a little long to get to downtown. Next to a popular shopping area that has some great inexpensive restaurants that locals seem to frequent.
Lovely, clean, well facilitated rooms. very small however it will be the same everywhere in Tokyo, for us it was perfect. The staff were very helpful and polite. Breakfast was good for the price you pay. Much cheaper than UK prices at hotels. Location is good, 15 minute walk max to Shinjuku station. 7 11 3 minutes walk.
Rooms were bigger than usual for a hotel in Tokyo. Very clean and well kept utensils. Beds were very clean, firm and comfortable. Can move the beds to make one big bed for my husband, myself and my baby. Staff can speak English well, one of them recommended breakfast in the area when we checked out. So good!
I've stayed in APA hotels before so I wasn't expecting much more than a standard business hotel, but I was surprised at the level of comfort and amenities in the room. The hotel also had a spa in the basement and a passable breakfast buffet. It was close to the park in a safe, clean part of Shinjuku.
I booked the same room where me and my husband stayed last October for my daughter and her friend. They watched Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in Tokyo. They were happy with the hotel location, room size, amenities and the polite staffs. They had nothing to complain.
Everything was amazing. The building is new and rooms were immaculate/very clean.
The hotel is super close to the Yamanote line, and Otsuka is a great little neighborhood to stay in (has tons to do, but also not crazy busy like Shinjuku or Shibuya).
We'd enjoyed staying in Jal city Haneda Tokyo over all... But our only concern is no smoking area inside the hotel it's cold outside to take cigarette 🚬 thank u.me and my husband is looking forward to stay again in you're hotel.
The hotel is only 3 minutes walk from the nearest station and it is about 30 minutes train ride to Shibuya/ Shinjuku, which I think is really good value for money. Comfort, cleanliness and amenities wise are all good.
Nearby metro stations with direct line to ginza, shibuya, shinjuku making it easy to explore tokyo, many restaurants around the hotel, convenient store across the street
The location of this capsule hotel is fantastic, you literally can't ask for better being right outside shinjuku station and so close to great food locations.
