In 28 years in Japan, I think this was the best place I’ve ever stayed. I was there for 3 nights. Mr. and Mrs. Ito were incredibly kind. They thought of every single detail, going far beyond what I expected. It was a wonderful experience and I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed and appreciated it. I would give them a score of 100 if I could.

The Japanese garden is really beautiful and well-maintained. The room is nice and clean, and yummy breakfast too! All the staff are very welcoming and speak fluent English - they really go above and beyond to make you feel at home. The location is good - it’s close to Akabane station which will get you to anywhere in Tokyo easily. I’ll come back next time!

The couple which run this place are absolutely beautiful people. We were lucky to be the only guests staying for the night and the owner went out of his way to pick us up and drop us off at the station. We felt well accommodated the entire time. The western breakfast they serve is incredible. Our only regret was staying here for just a single night.

This property has an amazing and tranquil atmosphere. It has a traditional Japanese house aesthetic with a beautiful garden, full of history but modernized. The room is very clean and the bed is comfortable too! There’s slippers, towels, Yukatas provided for the guests. The owner is very friendly and accommodating, and there was so many interesting things we talked about over breakfast. I definitely loved the special homemade orange marmalade that was part of breakfast. This space is ideal for couples or small families who want a peaceful and quiet place to stay in.

We stayed at Mokkoan for the last 3 nights of a multi week trip in Japan. It was absolutely wonderful and our favorite place we stayed at. The hospitality that we received there was incredible and the hosts were so generous and kind--they truly love what they do and it felt like staying at a family member's home. The futon beds were so comfortable--the best sleep I had the entire trip. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfasts were excellent, with delicious fresh fruit and orange marmalade made from the oranges that grow in the garden, and it was refreshing to chat with other guests at the breakfast table from all over the world each morning. The garden in front of the home is divine and I loved having a gorgeous view of the garden every morning. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, but still an easy walk to and from the train station (about 15 min).
