It’s pretty close to the main train station. The (restaurant) staff was pleasant. We enjoyed the onsite onsen. The town shut down early, so it was convenient having the Box Burger right there. Pro-tip - Five minutes away is a cute shrine “Hien Waterfall” that should be visited.

The service was above and beyond and the dinner and breakfast service were great. Would highly recommend and will be back! Thank you to the staff for making our honeymoon stay so wonderful.

It’s a beautiful spot to visit.

It’s a beautiful spot to visit. I recommend 2-3 days to really experience and explore. I got the Hakone free pass and made my way around the loop over 2 days and the scenery was breathtaking, an extra day would have allowed deeper relaxation and extra exploring. Definitely explore the shrines around the lake and try and get to an Onsen while you are there. I did find it tricky to find tattoo cover patches, so possibly worth looking into before travelling to Hakone if you need to cover up.

    Beautiful nature and atmosphere.

Beautiful nature and atmosphere. The trip to Lake Ashimoto was lovely and the scenery impressive. The highlight of our stay in Hakone was dipping in the local onsens, we loved the experience and the feeling of relaxation after a bath. We ate at different local restaurants, mostly found via map apps, which made great food at reasonable prices. We used the Hakone Pass to get around using trains, cable cars and the ropeway, all very convenient and easy to use. We could have used a couple extra days to visit some of the attractions in the area, that we did not have enough time to enjoy.

The whole property has a 140 years history, which could be seen as a representative of the ryokan culture in Hakone. We were very pleased to stay at the hotel. Staffs were very friendly, they even got a staff can speak Chinese, who gave us a lot of help. The private onsen and the villa itself were a great experience. My parents stayed in the villa and they felt like so relaxed after a long day. Food were great too. We also ordered a Sake and it was not very expensive. In total, everything was great in here.

We had a room overlooking the lake and on the 2nd day we could see Mt Fuji right in front of us- amazing! We arrived at Hakone train station and then started the loop. Unfortunately, due to strong winds gondola and boats were suspended, but we were able to get to the hotel by bus. It must be really nice to arrive by gondola and later boat Boats start right next to the hotel, so we were able to take the first boat the bext day at 9:30 am. Mt Fuji peaking through the clouds was seen through the hotel room window, with the hotel located in a quiet forest spot, it's on the list for a must visit next time we stay in Hakone. From the generous variety at the buffet, to the well equipped onsen bathhouse, it was truly a wonderful stay. The futon beds were easy to arrange ourselves, super warm even on a cold night. They've even got fairy lights out in the garden at night with great photo locations.

I love the tranquillity of the surroundings - located mid of Mt Hakone, away from main road, little crowd of guests staying in nearby guesthouses and especially the view of Mt Fuji and Lake Ashi at the window. There was a day I met the staff who was there to urgently repair the onsen - he was very polite and tries his best to answer questions. The room and beds are clean, doesn't feel dated and no odd smells (that is if the tatami scent don't count).

Location was a little difficult to get to as it was located up a steep hill, but in return, you get the most beautiful view in the Hakone area of Lake Ashi and Mt Fuji. The indoor and outdoor onsen were small but usually timing works out that you have the bath to yourself. It was more than enough, and the view from the outdoor onsen was beautiful. I wish I could have stayed longer! The villa was very spacious and many amenities were provided.

Everything was perfect. We were able to drop off our luggage in the morning before embarking on the Hakone Free Pass loop. Once we checked-in, a wonderful dinner was served by the ryokan's friendly staff. We were also fortunate enough to have booked the Sakura room where we had a private bath. The public onsens were also fantastic and very relaxing. Overall, a very comfortable stay and a reasonable price!

I enjoyed breakfast more tbh. There is a restaurant beside the Ryokan if you do not enjoy the meals or doesn't suit your taste. 3. There are public and private reserved onsen. 4. The scenery surrounding the hotel was priceless. The calm, surreal and breathtaking view of the lake, which makes up for the distance that the hotel is located from the Hakone town (about 20 mins drive).
