Great value for money, you get a holiday house with everything you might need, including a washing machine. The village is small so the location is as central as could be. Comfortable beds.

It's a beautiful place, very peaceful, clean, spacious, and the owner was very friendly and helpful (when we didn't know how to use the washing machine. The rooms are comfortable, the heating/aircon works perfectly well, the place is clean and the kitchen includes a fridge, freezer, water boiler, and microwave. We were very glad about that, as most places to eat were closed or only open during a short lunch time. It was also possible to rent bikes (e-bikes) from the owner for an additional fee, and it was the best decision to do that. The island is beautiful and small, but the public bus doesn't run too frequently. There are some hills and therefore it was a big advantage to have the bikes with some support when going uphill.

It was lovely to take public transport directly to this little private set of cabins around a courtyard and the central home of the host - we saw it mentioned in a review as 'unassuming' and we'd agree! It had a very quiet, community vibe to it. Lovely lush vegetation, and we had access to electric bikes for a small fee - which were invaluable for travelling up and down to museums and to visit the coast as the sun went down. That was a highlight. The cabins are like small apartments with kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, and we were comfortable, with access to the heating from the aircon box. We lucked out on check in, because the owner was home, and friendly, and it was close enough to get to eateries and to access one of the art house projects nearby. We loved it!

Great location to visit all spots in Honmura. Miyanoura will take about 10 min. by bike from the guesthouse. Benesse sites are accessible by bike/on foot from here too.

The friendly and attentive host showed us through the 400 year old main house and told us its history. The room/cabin suite was new, clean, spacious and well appointed. We speak Japanese, so that helped. We don’t have any helpful information as far as the host’s English ability, but the instructions posted in the room had English translations. The guest house is a 3 minute walk from the ferry landing and 1 minute from stop for the busses that take you across the island or to the museum area. We went at the end of December during the pandemic. It was cold and breezy everywhere but uncrowded and the art sites (both those within easy walking distance in the historic village and those accessible by a 10 minute bus ride either way) were amazing!

One of the best experience in Japan ! The owner is just so lovely and helpful and can speak many languages. The location on the island is perfect and close to all restaurants and cafes of the island. I highly recommend this guest house.
