We had a trip from the USA to Italy for 10 days. We stayed at the Plaza Hotel in Salerno for 3 nights. It is a wonderful hotel and one of the best hotels that we’ve been.
Very convenient location. About 2-3 minutes of walk distance from the train station and bus station, 5 minutes of walk distance from the Ferry for Amalfi or Positano, walk distance from the beaches, Old town, new town and downtown of Salerno.
Very clean facility including inside the room and public areas.
The Hotel provides great breakfast.
Artist style designed restaurant.
The hotel staffs are very friendly.
Located in Salerno, Hotel Bruman offers free WiFi throughout and rooms with air conditioning and a satellite flat-screen TV. Vietri sul Mare can be reached in 10 minutes by car.

The hotel exceeded my expectation: located literally right by the train station, minutes of walk to the ferry to the Amalfi Coast, rooms are very spacious, well maintained and spotless clean (can walk barefoot on the floor type of clean!), free breakfast is decent and very friendly staff (big thanks to Filomina who gave me the most beautifully displayed platter when I asked for a kettle to make tea, and Marika who made extra ham when I was almost late for breakfast). The only minor downside is that it doesn't have a lift so if you have luggage, better ask for a ground floor room although even female staff will offer to help you (thanks again Filomina).

Salerno is a relaxed, peaceful city with excellent restaurants, a lively old town, and great access to other locations. It is much more economical and quieter than staying on the Amalfi Coast and is only a half hour ferry ride away from it.

Lovely big town with an old town, cobbled streets and lots...
Lovely big town with an old town, cobbled streets and lots of restaurants and bars. There is a large area of restricted traffic and parking is horrendous, even though it was April every single space along the streets and public car parks were taken. Luckily our apartment owner suggested she book us a space in a private garage and although it cost €25 per night it was well worth it. The port was within walking distance and we took a ferry to Amalfi Coast. Don’t even think about driving along the Amalfi coast as the traffic was horrendous and absolutely nowhere to park. A very busy over crowded coastline.

Lovely Lungomare with views of the mountains of the Sorrento...
Lovely Lungomare with views of the mountains of the Sorrento penisular. Railway station (from where you can travel to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Paestum, Naples and many other places - local and further afield e.g. Rome or further south). Many buses operating all over the Salerno area and Amalfi Coast. Ferry terminal for travelling to Amalfi Coast towns and Capri.
Old Town with narrow streets thronging with shops, places to eat and drink. The Duomo with its magnificent Crypt, Villa Comunale park with the turtles, Castle Arrechi - a steep climb but a great castle and fabulous views.
Not a place for a beach holiday but I'd definitely recommend Salerno for exploring the Amalfi coast, Naples, Pompeii and the surrounding area without breaking the bank!

1 day in Salerno was too long.
1 day in Salerno was too long. There were a lot of homeless and sketchy people. It was like the Newark of Italy...filthy. It didn't even feel like we were in Italy until we got to the old part of town. But, we didn't feel safe here either.

Such an attractive city, clean and interesting. the old town...
Such an attractive city, clean and interesting. the old town was a pleasure to walk around, the church of St Matteo an absolute must to visit, the promenade along the sea front perfect to stroll along.
lots of interesting restaurants and bars and a fabulous ice cream parlour on the sea front - bar Gelateria Nettuno is an absolute must
Sadly the botanical gardens (Minerva) are closed for restoration at present
Everything: the room was very clean and had all we needed for a travelling family with pets including a balcony; the beds were very comfortable; the location was good, with walking distance to the lungomare and free parking space next to the b&b; the air conditioning was great too. The host was very nice, easy to reach, easy to talk to and very accomodating. It was very nice finding water in the fridge and coffee. If we ever come back to Salerno we’ll stay there again for sure.
The location of the external apartment is extremely convenient. This is not the hotel proper but rooms located in a building nearby, which honestly is better located than the hotel itself. The apartment is Just short walk to the train. Car rental, and ferry port. Easy walk to the centro storico, right by the Lungomare, and very close to the start of the main shopping street which is right outside the train station. The staff was helpful and responsive via WhatsApp
I can’t believe what a gem we found. Christina and Giovanni are superb hosts and no request big or small was an issue. The location is super as well as its within walking distance of train station, Salerno Concordia ferry port and all the hip eateries along the sea side. The room was extremely clean with all the amnesties that one could expect from a 5 star hotel. They had brochures for all the activities plus maps. I can’t recommend this place enough!!❤️
The host met us and let us into our room exactly as we anticipated. He is a very nice man who explained the hours of breakfast and check out. Breakfast was delicious and had everything you could need or want. The rooms were spacious, clean and the A/C worked great. The beds are a bit firmer than I prefer but that is the way it is all over Italy, to be expected. The most important thing is that it was clean and comfortable and the host was very friendly.
Spacious apartment, wonderful host, best time in February to visit Amalfi coast, Pompei, etc. Residential environment, within 10 minutes walk to Salerno centro, comfortabel bed, lot of restaurants nearby. Just ask Carmen to get all information you need. Extraordinary sweet ialien breakfast.
Equipment of the kitchen is low standard. But it is not important except you want to prepare dinner. There a lot of good pizzerie, trattorie or ristorante nearby.
Giovanni and Cristina were amazing hosts. The place was IMMACULATE and perfectly located in central Salerno. The B&B was stunningly decorated with every detail meticulously designed. Artwork, plants and wonderful ambience throughout the property. We stayed there 8 nights and loved every minute. Easy to get to all the sea attractions by boat...Amalfi, Maori, Minori, Vietre Sul Mar, Positano all were just a short BEAUTIFUL boat ride away.
The apartment is spacious but part of it (the kitchen in particular) is unusable. For two friends travelling to Salerno to explore the city and with no interest to spend much time inside of a hotel room, it was just the right choice. It is located on the main avenue of the city, with lots of restaurants, bistros and pubs nearby. The building is very special indeed, and the lobby of the aparthotel has an aristocratic look and feel.
Hotel Plaza is right across the square from the train station, which takes you wherever you need to go in the area, but it is also a block from the harbour and is on a cross section of streets for restaurants and shopping - perfect location! A good, spacious and very clean and comfortable room, had everything I needed and great water pressure in the shower! (And the breakfast is very good, lots of selection!)
The careful attention that is given to each and every detail so that your stay is wonderful. Gianpiero, the owner, is a genuine sweetheart who is always available for sharing a good advice/ important information.
Tip: if you wish to arrive straight into the parking the address is: via Lungomare Colonbo 111, Salerno - the photo is what you find on the sighnpost.
Actually precise description- AMAZING.
Everyting was perfect. Location, ecquipments, space, beds, but mostly Gerardo hospitality.
Juice, sweets, coffee. Gerardo help with car parking garage and gave a lot advice what to see, where to eat and provide many interesting historical information.
Highly recommend staying here if you are looking around Salerno.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They answered a bunch of questions I had, and their English was great (especially compared to my Italian).
Salerno is an ideal city to stay in and allows you to take a short ferry ride to other Amalfi Coast cities like: Vietri Sul Mare, Amalfi, Positano, and Capri.
There’s nothing not to like about this sweet, simple hotel. In fact, I decided to stay an extra night.
A short walk to the beach, to the train, and from the bus that took me to Salerno.
Clean, comfortable, and with a balcony and private bathroom.
The breakfast at the bar downstairs was very nice.
Andrea is amazing... the breakfast is fantastic. We stayed for only one day and I'm sad we didn't pick this Hotel for at least 1 more.. Salerno is fantastic and the hotel is the the heart of it. Zero outside noise due to their care on having acoustic windows .
Best choice...
Old building with updated bathroom and air conditioning. Old school Italy. Center of old Salerno wit lots of bars ,restaurants, and shopping. Hard to find on Google maps and small, one way streets make it hard to find and get a car to for loading and unloading.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The manager and other workers are very attentive and kind. The hotel is located 2 km from the centre of Salerno. If you have a car, it is a great location to see the sights of the area. We recommend.
Great location and price. Breakfast was Covid style packaged food , funnily enough I enjoyed it more than the croissant/coffee thing people seem to do in Italy.
