Having grown up at Otranto Place, Sandycove, Dublin, I had always wanted to visit! Unlike its Dublin namesake, it is a little down at heel, BUT I loved it all the more! Has character, history, cultural sights to see (the castle made famous by Horace Walpole and the amazing Tree of Life mosaic in the Cathedral). A town beach and nearby to other lovely beaches & beach clubs. Lots of good meals but two exceptional places - Frontemare, on the sea front and very cute L'Ortale in the heart of the old town. Stayed at Relais Valle Dell'Idro, 8 mins walk out of the old town, charming and good value.

It is a very nice little city with lots of restaurants and bars for any kind of public. The sea has a wonderful colour, it is super clean (at least while we were there) and behind the lighthouse there is a super beach with rocks, it looks simply GREAT.
I love little Otranto, definitly worth a visit!

We enjoyed walking around the town and beach area.
We enjoyed walking around the town and beach area. We travelled to the Bauxite Lake which was nearby and hiked around it and then down to the ocean. A highlight was going south and swimming in the Adriatic and Ionian Seas. We hired a boat for the two of us for 3 hours for 60 Euros. It was absolutly amazing and the grotto's were beautiful. The water color was just amazing! A highlight of our trip to southern Italy.

It is a really attractive town, with pretty streets, a castle and a lovely old cathedral. The cathedral has some spectacular Byzantine floor mosaics. In grim contrast, the Martyrs Chapel contains the bones of 800 Christians massacred by the Turks in 1480. We spent an enjoyable couple of hours exploring and ended up for a good mojito and beer on the front.

Lovely old town to walk through!
Lovely old town to walk through! Beautiful views from the boardwalk. Nice beaches. Lots of restaurants and shops in the old town area. The Otranto castle had nice exhibits and great views from the top of the building. Enjoyed our stay.
We booked a double room with a balcony and a sea view. The small amount we paid extra was well worth it as the views of the sea and across Otranto were fantastic. The location could not be bettered as the hotel was across the road from the sea and the beautiful centro historico a 5 minutes stroll. There were many lovely restaurants close by as well as child safe beaches.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel and it's rooms clean and bright. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and very good.
Claus was the best host you could have. Communication was exceptionally good, he welcomed me and showed me around the city and beautiful spots around the city, he gave me the best tips about places to visit and dinner spots and he just makes you feel like home and that you belong there! The location is perfect the room is super big and comfortable, amazing bed! And best breakfast Views from the rooftop! It is definitely an amazing place to stay in Otranto, you fall in love with it! Grazie Claus!
Nice well kept little hotel very conveniently located right at the beach front and with very short walking distance to the old town. Nice, comfortable, clean and well kept rooms. Friendly and polite staff. Excellent breakfast where you needed to select from a card, the best was some very good homemade croissants probably the best I ever had in any hotel, it was like from a good bakery, the cakes was good too and coffee tasted like from your typical Italian coffee shop.
Beautiful location close to the waterfront. Fantastic staff, especially the front desk and the breakfast staff. Everyone we interacted with was very nice and courteous. We had some trouble with parking but the staff was very helpful and found us parking about 500 meters from the hotel. It was quite confusing at first but the front desk was very courteous and helped solve the issue. The breakfast was a varied buffet with lots of fresh items, fruits and juices.
La ozza B&B is one- of- a kind place in Otranto. Claudio’s ( the owner) hospitality was outstanding and made us feel right at home. What a wonderful experience it has been staying at your place, singing together. We stayed as a two couple in two rooms and the rooms were very clean and spacious, spotlessly maintained,. You were so accommodating and friendly throughout the entire process, which made staying here an absolute delight.Hope to see you again.
I liked everything. The architecture is amazing, the decoration is so cute, careful and elegant. The whole hotel extremely clean and the staff lovely. Thanks so much for all of their care. The breakfast was the best I had in Italy. Quality and elegance in the entire place. Congratulations to the owner. What was the most perfect thing is that the owner knows how to preserve the antique structure and have modern features and utilities. Amazing.
The room was attractive, comfortable, and quiet. Comfy beds. Spotlessly clean, excellent daily housekeeping. Amazing breakfasts. Comfortable shaded seating to relax with a book or a drink. The historical building has been painstakingly and beautifully renovated. The hotel is very close to town, so it’s easy to walk to beaches, restaurants, historic town center, etc. Exceeded our expectations — highly recommended!
Host (Domenico & Erika) were absolutely fantastic and made this our most memorable stay during our 2 week tour across Apulia. They were very welcoming and provided a wealth of information about Otranto and the region. The room had all required amenities and the breakfast was delicious. Domenico introduced us to the local specialty, caffe Leccese. B&B is only minutes away from the beach.
Despite 10 min walk to beaches and the old town....Franco & Nana are among the best hosts I've ever come across in a B&B. Kind, courteous, helpful, full of fun and just the right amount of wish to please. Top that with immaculate rooms fit for a luxury hotel....cannot recommend Vele Sorrento highly enough...just book and stay. Ron
Everything was perfect! Francesco is the best host I have met. He is very attentive to all the details. Francesco gave us excellent recommendations for our stay in Otranto. The rooms are spacious and very well equipped with everything you need. We felt very good and couldn't wait to come back next year.
So many things! The gorgeous view of the city, the hospitality, the room, the location and the property itself. Sergio and a young lady (perhaps Ilaria - not sure exactly of her name now) were outstanding. The best service I have ever received. It made our stay extra special.
It is in a perfect location… Away from the chaos of the city, but still a five minute drive. And the property is within minutes of all the best beaches. The covered terrace in front of the apartment was perfect for hanging out, having breakfast or other meals…
We stayed at the Queen Suite, excellent room size and services. Staffs are more then friendly, really helpful! The location is very near the best beaches of Puglia! Love the stay and will be back soon!
