    Venice is beautiful city.

Venice is beautiful city. It s very historic and characteristic. There are of course no cars or even motorcycles, but there are watertaxis and water buses, which is unique and something you have to experience. There are narrow streets and it is very easy to get lost there. There are shops everywhere and historic buildings.

Venice is truly one of a kind.

Venice is truly one of a kind. Crowded with tourists and overprices? Yes, but that's because it is truly a beautiful and unique location with tons of fascinating history, incredible architecture and gorgeous views. You will walk a lot. Make sure you have a good data plan or downloaded maps. Do a walking tour that includes a gondola ride. The Doge's Palace is magnificent. Buy a water taxi pass and visit the neighboring islands. Murano is world-famous for its glass. Eat on the Grand Canal once, then eat in the back alleys or the smaller canals. Most restaurants offer the same fare with little variation. Get gelato from Suso! Visit the oldest Jewish ghetto in the world--it's history is incredible! Invest in bug spray as our room was thick with mosquitos (it was right on the canal with no screens on the windows).

We loved walking around and getting lost!

We loved walking around and getting lost! Google maps was a great tool to have but sometimes because of the alleyways, it took a few seconds to catchup to us, as we walked. We visited all the touristy places.. basilica, Palace, burano and murano, rialto, florian cafe in san marco sq, went to an opera, etc etc Florin cafe coffee is a bit expensive but they don't rush you off the seats and you can stay there for as long as you like, listening to their live-music. Cheaper options to eat are off the main hotspots. There are loads of snack bars and many many restaurants. You won't go hungry! Our guide to the islands of Burano and Murano, Elly, told us that only tourists drink Aperol spritz in venice... all the locals drink Select Spritz! So we tried it and it tastes very like aperol spritz and has a little more %alcohol!! We got tickets to a small opera and loved it... the hall was small and the price was around €35, I think. In Scuola Grande di San Teodoro. It was for 90mins but well worth the price... they had fantastic costumes and sang a range of songs from different operas.!!

You have to visit the San Marco area where the iconic places...

You have to visit the San Marco area where the iconic places to visit are located The public water taxi from the train station can be as crowded as a subway at rush hour! As others have mentioned, you will get lost even using Maps. Plan your routes, with street names before you go. If you get lost, stop in a shop to ask for directions. Very narrow alley ways. Lots of small bridges to walk over. Watch for yellow arrow signs on buildings pointing to St Marks Square, Rialto. Expensive to eat since all food has to be carted into San Marco. Best to find and take tours to save time and get the best of the experience. To take water taxi back from Rialto to Train Station, go online and order a priority boarding pass. Otherwise, you will have to wait and wait to get on the taxi. One final tip. Cross over the Rialto Bridge to the mainland side from San Marco. Lots of great shopping, quieter, less crowds. And, wider alleys!

Palazzo Ducale, Basilica San Marco, Galleria dell 'Accademia...

Palazzo Ducale, Basilica San Marco, Galleria dell 'Accademia, Peggy Guggenheim Collection are not to be missed. Previous bookings are the best options. Also the view from the campanile of St. Giorgio Maggiore is superb. The food in Venice is good if you find a suitable restaurant. Expensive though. With a map you can reach almost any place of interest, but it's lovely just to get lost and wander around. Not many groceries stores in the central area so it's better to bring in some essentials.

The Sonder is located in a best part of Venice Dorsoduro, close to major attractions and easily reachable by vaporetto or on foot. Dorsoduro is a very bohemian but well kept part of Venice with lovely squares and restaurants, churches, not to mention museums. The hotel is very modern which is exceptional for Venice and maybe for Italy, with great facilities and lovely comfort. This apartment was amazing! Spacious, clean, comfortable beds, and lots of natural light. Cristina, the owner, is very friendly and resourceful in providing recommendations while in Venice. Our family really enjoyed staying here. Huge plus - dryer with the washer. Finding a dryer in Italy is almost impossible, so this was huge for me traveling with children, especially when it rained. Location - the best! Short walk to the Rialto vaporetto stop, short walk to Doges Palace area. Best location! Could get anywhere in Venice in 20mins or less.

Front Desk staff were very helpful in recommending restaurants. The breakfast buffet in the morning and the service in the breakfast room were the best of the eight hotels we stayed at in Italy. The outside garden was lovely but it was too cold to use in late April. There were gondolas right outside the front door. The bathroom and room were very comfortable. The location is fabulous. Convenient St Mark's Square as well as the waterfront with all the vaporettos but tucked away from the crowds.

We loved it 10 years ago and it’s even better now, having been completely renovated. Very good breakfast. Best staff. Take a water taxi to/from the airport or train station; it might be the most wonderful thing you do in Italy — besides eating 😉.

The directions to the hotel were detailed enough that I actually got to the hotel...a definite achievement in Venice1 The breakfast was the best I've encountered in my two months of travel through Italy.

Very close to train station. Good location to start for journey to most of Venice. Really close to all the nice bars and restaurants. Best air-con we’ve had in Italy which was needed as it was high 30s

the suite was beautiful, the staff was so friendly, they had their own cafe, everything was perfect. Better than any other hotel we stayed at in Italy.
