I loved the location.
I loved the location. We enjoyed a squall while hunkering down in the main dining area. Only complaint was that the access to turn on the lights in the main sitting/dining area was behind a sign that said no access/staff only. Cute and charming place with some rooms having a beautiful ocean view. There is a museum next door where we ate as during the time of year we visited was the only restaurant open. It was delicious and had a great selection for the size of the restaurant. The town is very picturesque and also has a church with rainbow steps leading up the side of a hill.JohnUnited States of America - 10Scored 10
Holmavik is a beautiful village on the Steingrimsfjordur...
Holmavik is a beautiful village on the Steingrimsfjordur with charming architecture (especially the church!) and nice restaurants. It's a perfect stop on your way to or from the West Fjords. We stayed there the last night of our 6-night visit in the West Fjords in order to be close to Drangsnes, where we were taking a boat to Grimsey Island and whale watching the next day. I booked a room in Holmavik because there weren't any available in Drangsnes, but we were so glad I did! We visited the national Witchcraft Museum while in Holmavik and ate out in one of its many restaurants. We loved Holmavik and will certainly come back on our next trip to Iceland.JoyceUnited States of America - 10Scored 10
We arrived late and the staff was terrific.
We arrived late and the staff was terrific. It's in a terrific location with a grocery store across the street and gas station and restaurants close by. There's also a very good restaurant in the lobby. The room was very big and the beds were really comfortable. Large bathroom as well.

Holmavik is a nice small town with a little harbour.
Holmavik is a nice small town with a little harbour. Cafe Ruiss served great food but wise to go early (5.00 -6.00) as it gets very busy and closes at 8.30pm. There is a lovely walk accessed behind the Church which goes into a little valley and at this time of the year was full of gorgeous blue Lupins.evelynUnited Kingdom - 8.0Scored 8.0
Small town!
Small town! Does have everything a traveler needs but not a place where I’d plan to spend more than a couple nights unless I had specific plans for the area. Restaurants were good and a couple local sights were cool.
