This is a MUST stay place if you have a car and you are planning to stay near Selfoss and Thingvellir Park!
Place is totally lovely, as the staff there is! Special kudos to Agatha and Ásta!
We had a need to change the room and it was sorted out fast and with complimentary attention - thank you!!
Oh! And don't miss the opportunity to spend your evening I'm the hot tub outside, wonderful way to finish the day after beautiful sightseeing in this wonderful place Iceland is :)
I loved this place. It was perfect location for different places to visit such as Geyster, Pingvilllar (National Park), etc. The accommodation was cosy and lovely. The owners were friendly, helpful and thoughtful; always informed me and my friends about the weather and issues with the hire car. We loved the scenery of the lake especially visiting the hot geothermal bath nearly every night. the last night before we returned to the city, we saw Northern Lights! that was the highlight of the short break. We would go back and stay there again. Loved it.

We chose it as a night stop between golden circle and Vik; village has thermal baths but we had already had thermal spa at blue lagoon, so we didn’t try these baths;
There are at least three places for dinner :)
The village is not worth for a longer stay or you can find a more attractive place ;)

Extremely quiet place.. not much to do.
Extremely quiet place.. not much to do. If you want a quiet place to recharge and do nothing, this is your place. We stayed 2 nights which is maybe too much for this little spot. Enjoyed onion ring burgers at Goodburger!

My guesthouse was comfortable and pleasant.
My guesthouse was comfortable and pleasant. I wished I had more time to enjoy the Fortuna. My hike at 10pm was delightful. I cannot recall ever smelling fresher air. The lupines, birches and pines were lovely. It was easy to get to all of the sites on the Golden Circle from there. Would gladly go back.
Great and affordable location along the golden circle. The proprietor, Thor, and his wife, Helga, were wonderful hosts. The hostel was quiet with only another guest and I, so I was upgraded to my own room with private bathroom (originally booked an all-female dorm room) - THANK YOU for the amazing hospitality. Thor also recommended I try the local pool next to Fonatana - such a cool experience - with a lap pool, 2 heated small pools and a sauna for only 1000 ISK! Location is also next to a grocery store and gas station!
We had an amazing stay at the cottage, its super clean and comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. We cooked a few meals at the cottage to save some money and there's a hot plate, microwave, toaster and kettle - it was perfect! The mattress was also the most comfortable mattress I've ever slept on. Truly a dream and it made our holiday in Iceland all the more magical, thank you so much!
Best guesthouse in Iceland that we stayed in 7 days! Very spacious living and kitchen areas. Lots of cabinets. Nice wall to wall wood paneling including ceiling. Super clean. Close to Fontana spa and Efstidalur II, Kerid, bruarfoss and Gullfoss. Host provided milk for coffee and tea. There is even a bbq grill outdoor. Great privacy and best value for family traveling. Highly recommended!
The staff friendly as always (2nd time here after 4 years).
The room was cozy, clean and warm. The dinning area was well prepared and also a nice touch with tea, water and free coffee. Near the hotel we Foundation nice local restaurantsand harnice relaxing evening at Fontana Geotermal Spa. Later în tue night the aurora borealis could be spotted 10 min driving from the hotel.
Nice to have breakfast provided in the morning with a cute little shop to peruse. Bedrooms/bathrooms were overall comfortable and clean. Location was awesome coming from Reykjavik and spending the day at Thingvellir National Park. Cute little town with an awesome hot spring, Laugarvatn Fontana, and delicious dinner food at the hostel down the street.
This is a beautiful historic property in a stunning lakeside location. It is very quiet and clean. We loved the lobby which was decorated in a very cozy manner. We read and played chess and enjoyed the views. Another thing that is great is the proximity (200 meters) from the Fontana hot springs, gorgeous.
The location is fantastic if you're visiting the ring road in Iceland, very close to the thingvellir national park, Geysir park and Gullfoss falls. Saw the most amazing northern lights right from the front porche as it's in the middle of an open field with very low light which made it great :)
Ideal location for a number of sights such as Geysir, Gullfoss, the Secret Lagoon and numerous little waterfalls as well as being just a couple of minutes’ walk from Laugarvatn Fontana baths with the rye bread tour. The owner was very friendly and we really enjoyed the breakfasts in the cafe!
Loved the comfortable feeling of this hotel. You feel right at home with how friendly and welcoming the staff are right off the bat and how comfortable the rooms are. The rooms had everything you needed including heated floors which felt so toasty after being outside in the cold.
The surrounding is beautiful and quiet. The restaurant serves the high quality food from the farms around. It actually is the best dinner we had in Iceland for ten days. It has a barn with cows you can see through the viewing window and horse running happily outside.
We loved our stay here! Booked a family room which was spacious and a great value! Liked out it had space to hang damp jackets. Staff was super responsive to our needs via phone and breakfast in the hostel next store was perfect. chocolate bars too - thank you!
We liked the beautiful views, being near nature and close to places we wanted to visit in the Golden Circle. It was very windy some days and it was really amazing to experience the powerful Icelandic winds and see the sky clear for the stars at night!
The location is very close to Laugarvatn Fontana Spa (3 mins walking distance).
The room is very spacious and all the amenities were available.
The mudroom to ensure the cleanliness of the apartment.
Self check-in was very swift.
We enjoyed our country retreat among the sheep and birds. Our cottage was clean and cozy. It had everything we needed and the quietude of Laugarvatn provided a nice contrast to Reykjavik (although we enjoyed them both).
The room was clean, warm and cozy. The bed was comfortable although a bit soft. The private bathroom was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel has kitchen to cook our meals.
Beautiful cottage with stunning view from the terrace. Also the surrounding area is worth it, especially Laugarvatn Fontana and Þingvellir. It would be nice to come back someday.
