With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.

So many nice architecture!! Everywhere you look, it is beautiful. Shopping: mainly the big familiar stores are there. Prices: not cheap, regular European prices. Watch out: when you pay by card: choose HUF, not Euro or other valuta. When you are at a restaurant they already charge service costs, no big tip needed.

Beautiful city. Buda and pest completely different - walking tour of pest was excellent. Took castle city tour next day - again very good Food and drink very good value. Lovely waterfront bars and restaurants. Ruin bars in Jewish quarter def worth a visit.

Budapest is another one of the charming, old time cities that we have visited in Europe that just makes us so glad that we have traveled and explored there. Like Prague, another favorite of ours, Seniors are allowed to utilize the wonderful transportation system (trains, trams and buses) to get around to see the entire city. The thermal pool at 38° is the best place to relax after a long day in the city. We will come back for sure!
