This is the perfect family run taverna and rooms. Like, storybook. Great family - parents knew very little English, but the guys (kids or cousins?) that mostly interacted with guests did. Everyone was so sweet and we communicated through their little English and my minimal slaughtered Greek. Amazing made to order food by mom (I think.) Spacious room. AMAZING view.

Orthi Ammos is a return to an ancestral home, to quietness and restfulness away from the reverberating North, to a simple, unsophisticated and ultimately beautiful life. The location is perfect. The hotel is just a few metres from a gorgeous sandy beach. The room is good value for money. What I liked most about it was the private balcony in the garden, with a view of the castle, the mountains and the sea, ideal for those who want to take their breakfast privately and enjoy nature. The restaurant, the same as the hotel, low prices but delicious food and great view. The staff are friendly and helpful people. Don't forget to try the local cheese pies served with honey made by the kind hospitable owner.

We loved the view of the Venetian castle from our room. The restaurant has fantastic family cooked authentic Cretan food that is locally sourced. Real value for the room, quality of food and the view overlooking the sea, mountains and castle. The staff are so friendly and generous with their hospitality!

I highly recommend this familly run hotel! The personnel is very kind and the rooms while they are small,they are vey clean and with excellent wifi. There is also a nice restaurant in the hotel in which we enjoyed delicious local food! The most important is that rooms and hotel have beautiful view on the Lyvian sea! The hotel is on a 2 min walking distance from one of the best beaches in Crete!Excellent value for money!We will come back for sure!

Family run structure with basic cosy rooms, some of them with stunning sunset view from the balcony. Great location one hundred metres from the Venetian Castle and the main beach, five minutes walk from Orthi Ammos beach, probably the best one in the whole area. Friendly and helpful staff, always eager to give you tips and advice. Traditional tavern where you can still find local specialties at a very reasonable price. If you like a relaxing holiday in a beautiful tranquil environment, you shouldn't miss it.
