Company info

Nick, moved to North Wales from the West Country in 2012. A former Paratrooper, Firefighter and a Bushcraft and Survival instructor; he started "Woodlanders " eight years ago. Where he runs regular one or two day courses, on the local mountain Cader Idris. Where he teaches a multitude of outdoor skills e.g. friction-bow fire lighting, foraging, wild cooking and coracle making,all year around . Nick has explored the local area ,and the local mountain ranges and areas of interest. Nick is a qualified bush craft instructor. When Nick retired from the fire service,he followed in his fathers footsteps,running a bed and breakfast. Ty Seren is ideally situated in Snowdonia, allowing Nick to train for his passion of high altitude mountain climbing. He has summited four of the "Seven Summits", the highest mountains of the worlds continents. In 2013 he reach the summit of Aconcagua, then in the same climbing season summited Everest from the north at 8848 metres. This year he is on a expedition to Denali, Alaska. Nick is a members of a local samba drumming band "Batala Bermo .

Ty Seren, was built in 1800, it used to be a woollen mill. It's also been an Inn, and shop, for many years it was called Star stores. As a listed building it retains many original features, I.e an inglenook fireplace, an outside stone staircase, slate flagstone flooring in the reception area, and an original oak staircase.

There are many walks, The mawddach trail, the precipice walk,old and new. The torrent walk( a beautiful waterfall and woodland walk). Or you could climb Cader Idris, or travel to Llanberis to climb Snowdon, or travel by train to the top!! Visit Harlech, to see an amazing castle, if that's what you prefer. There are a variety of walks suitable for all walking abilities. The beautiful town of Dolgellau has regular farmers market once a month, the local seaside town of Barmouth has two markets a week,Sunday and Thursday's. Machynlleth which is half an hour away has a huge market every Wednesday's.
