Picturesque ! Every part was so cozy. I wish it wasn’t just a stop over. The lounge was so comfortable! Staff is FANTASTIC!

I’ve visited Chirk on many occasions for business and leisure. The village is quieter since the building of the bypass. One feature to see is the aqueduct. Nearby Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is famous but Chirk Aquaduct is impressive too. It runs alongside the railway viaduct over a deep valley. At its north end the canal enters a tunnel.

Disappointing. Don't be taken in.
Disappointing. Don't be taken in. It's not really a castle, its a stately home and not a very interesting one at that. Only part of the 'castle' can be viewed, what can be seen is not very interesting and poorly presented and not set in context. There were no information screens, very little signage and what information there was consisted of 'this is a painting of a person you've never heard of. This is another'. At £15 per person (!) this was grossly over-priced and certainly not worth the money

Unfortunately we were returning home from one funeral to prepare for another in a couple of days so we did not have time to visit any where except the adjacent restaurant but it looked a pleasant little town with lots of local sites such as the castle and Pontcysyllte aqueduct

We took a dayboat hire for the family out of the Anglo Welsh marina at Trevor and travelled down the canal down to Chirk, passing over the famous aqueduct. Following day we went to the British Ironworks near Oswestry and saw the Knife Angel sculpture. A great day out.

The hotel is outside Chirk, a few minutes drive. The town is quite small but has a good free car park. We couldn't visit the castle as it was closed due to bad weather. The Llangollen canal is nearby and good for walking. The aqauaduct is interesting. It's easy to get to NT places, Llangollen, Oswestry and Snowdonia National Park.

Chirk is just a small Village but cute and it has coffee shops and gift shops. Llangollen is close and it's generally a nice area to drive around.
Walks along the canal are a bonus and this is close to the Lion Quays resort..
The hotel is set in lovely grounds next to a canal where you can walk along and feed the ducks. There were loads of canal boats too!
The bar/restaurant is huge and is fresh and clean and very modern.
The food is good quality with everything you could want for breakfast.
The room was not the largest but the bed and pillows were so comfy.
The staff were super friendly and welcoming and made you feel at ease.
Great place to stay before heading off into beautiful Wales.
Will stay again
Thanks
We booked the hotel to enable us to go to the International Eisteddfod. It was the ideal location. The hotel was good and suited our needs. The staff were all friendly and helpful. If there was a downside, it was the noise caused by traffic on the road outside. I would certainly consider staying at this hotel again when visiting the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen. Chirk is within easy driving distance from this venue.
Quiet old hotel which you get for what you pay for. Plenty of space in the rooms, staff very good. A few things to do around the hotel as well. Note that the restaurant is permanently closed so you have to go out to eat which is fine as there is plenty of places a short distance away. Breakfast was very good. Lots of choice. Good facilities in the room for tea and coffee etc. Bed very comfortable.
Lovely old hotel with modern facilities. Breakfast was very good. Warm welcome for our dog , separate dining room for those of us with our 4 legged friends. Large beer garden with covered areas . Hotel in ideal location for castle, aqueduct and local shops. Hotel still needs some updating . Excellent value .
The swimming pool and tennis courts were super, and the included breakfast was outstanding.
And the meals that we had from the on-site restaurant were great, with several tasty vegetarian options. The property was beautiful and quite well-maintained. Rooms were clean and spacious.
Resturant and spa are of a decent standard but the hotel and rooms are VERY dated and the pictures used by booking.com do not offer a true depiction of the rooms.
Very overpriced for what it is although I imagine a lot of it is for use of the leisure facilities.
location was ideal for a wedding that we were going to - just a 10 minute drive away.
spacious room.
great breakfast!
nice biscuits in the hotel room.
clean and tidy.
polite staff.
there was a fan supplied in the room which was good for the hot weather
Easy parking. Clean affordable rooms with plenty of space. Excellent breakfast.
Perfect for cycling the canal path to Llangollen via x2 aqueducts and x2 tunnels.
Staff friendly evening meal good at local pub within walking distance.
The spa building was obviously much newer and of a higher standard than the hotel. The swimming pool was lovely.
Canal side location.
Plenty of car parking.
Lovely grounds.
Bar and restaurant area were pleasant and well kept.
the hotel was spacious clean & in a lovely location next to a canal. good outdoor spaces & in the better weather am sure would be a pleasant place to sit outside. spa facilities accessible & got everything needed.
Room very comfortable although the manky old mini chocolate muffin left in one of the bedside drawers was not particularly appetising. Its a great hotel in terms if rooms and facilities.
Staff!! They were an amazing team seeking to make sure each guest’s needs were met. The location was spot on for what we were visiting. Would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
After a busy day we were able to have a relaxing drink and a delicious dinner. Friendly staff. Great base for visiting Chirk castle and the canal/aqueduct. Clean and comfortable.
Proximity to my trip to good road network for travel in Shropshire and Wrexham.
Comfortable bed and spacious room. Underfloor heating in bathroom .
A basic, clean hotel room.
The Resort is on the way to North Wales, stayed here for the second time. Great for a nice jog along the canal and a well equipped gym and spa, and adequate büfé breakfast
Stayed here several times for work purposes and the hotel is absolutely fine. Everything works - quick Wi-Fi,. comfortable room, restaurant just next door, good service.
