The staff was very very helpful. They gave us a room with an excellent view along the Esplanade. The breakfast was really good. We also liked that it was shoulder season and had fewer people. It was really nice walking into town and along the coastal trail.

This Grand Old Dame of English seaside hotels is in sparkling condition throughout. She is not cheap - but she is an excellent hostess and she will fulfil your every wish if you let her. Some may find her old fashioned - but that is a major part of her charm. From Martinis in the afternoon to sunsets over the sea in the evening, she has everything you need for a relaxing weekend. The sound of the waves playing us to sleep at through an open window was an added bonus!

Our flight was delayed so we arrived after the restaurant closed. The owner and his wife made us welcome, even though they had closed for the night. They very kindly opened a bottle of wine and made us a wonderful dinner. Throughout the stay their hospitality was amazing. The owner would not let us walk to the bus stop, instead he very kindly drove us all the way to Sidmouth in his own car! They really could not have done more for us!

Reception staff on arrival very abrupt.
They allowed to leave our car there whilst we were out for the day in the day of leaving.

Good choice of hotels and good shops in the town if the weather isn't great. (Loads of really good charity shops!)
Not many restaurants are open in the evenings (especially early in the week) so you need to book in advance. Myca, Pea Green Boat and The Loft are all good. Much more choice at lunchtime and good coffee/tea shops with lovely cakes. The Scott cinema and Marine theatre are both sweet and worth a visit.
Buses go to a few places if you don't have a car - and seem to be very reliable.
Jacobs Ladder beach and the Connaught Gardens are well worth visiting and are nicer than the town beach yet still very close to the centre.
Be aware that rocks etc can fall from the cliffs! The Jurassic coastline is amazing but it can crumble suddenly.

Sidmouth was a beautiful little seaside town with plenty of places to eat and drink!
Dog friendly beach in winter and lots of dog-friendly pubs/cafes! Beach is shingle/large pebble so not for everyone, but there’s a promenade/path the whole way along!
Lots of nice little independent shops & charity shops!
Parking gets very busy so you’re better off parking in the ‘weekend and walk’ car park slightly outside town - not far at all!
We visited in February but I’ve been told is gets very busy from May onwards.
There is a folk festival on the first weekend of August every year which I hear is great (but very busy)!

There's nothing there but the countryside.
There's nothing there but the countryside. Great for a solo weekend trip, but probably 1 week was too long. Especially when the accommodation was disappointing.
And from London, I don't think it's worth the drive.
This is not my first visit to the Harbour in Sidmouth we've friends locally. I always have a lovely stay rooms are very comfortable the breakfast is lovely and the setting is excellent. The only downside is that you don't redeem parking anymore which means if you get a parking space and head out quite often there are weddings which means the hotel parking fills up again which when you're staying isn't great.
Small quiet hotel, with a family run feel, set in lovely gardens in a peaceful area of Sidmouth, within easy walking distance of the sea front and town.
Lovely choice for breakfast which fills you up for the day. Evening meal, which needed to be booked in advance, was delicious and served by friendly staff. There is a lovely lounge to enjoy an evening drink.
In Sidmouth, by the sea, where roses bloom,
Stands Hunter's Moon, a marvellous hotel room.
With staff so helpful, warm smiles all around,
Comfortable rooms where peace can be found.
Each morning, a breakfast, a delightful delight,
Served with love, it's a heavenly bite.
And perched in an ideal coastal location,
This hotel's charm is a true revelation.
Huge room, lovely decor, very comfy bed. Appreciated the home made cookies and Nespresso maker.
Huge shower room/ wet room. Good shower. Very nice shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and hand cream; all for sale in reception.
Great cooked breakfast included.
Really good Sunday roast in the pub restaurant, and no need to book as guests of the hotel.
Ideally situated, for us, for a stay in Sidmouth. Hotel was a short walk from town .
Lovely room, spacious and clean with comfortable bed.
Staff were really nice , friendly and helpful .
Very good choice at breakfast and cooked breakfast was excellent . We also had an evening meal which was very good and good value for money .
An exceptional boutique-style hotel in a leafy setting on the outskirts of Sidmouth's quaint town centre. The hotel represented good value for money and provided accommodation of the highest calibre. The cooked breakfast was delightful and there was always an offer of further helpings and coffee top-ups.
The hotel is in a good location a very short walk from the beach and Sidmouth itself. My daughter enjoyed using the pool - although the smell of the gym next to it wasn't nice and the surround of the pool wasn't good either - a couple of plastic chairs and some old dirty towels in a basket.
Right on the seafront and our room 102 had a covered balcony looking over the road at the beach. Free parking on site if you are early enough and the beautiful town of Sidmouth is literally on the doorstep as you come out of the hotel steps
The staff was lovely and helpful! I am forever indebted to the desk attendant who helped me zip up my dress for the wedding I was attending as I was traveling alone! Breakfast was fantastic and the location in Sidmouth is amazing!
It is a very relaxing hotel right on the seafront with clean, comfy rooms, lovely balconies with amazing views and professional, friendly staff. Breakfasts are a combination of buffet and cooked and are excellent.
Room was warm, clean and quiet, and the shower was easy to operate. The owner was very welcoming and friendly and breakfast was excellent. We will use this guest house again when we're in Sidmouth.
It is not an hotel. It is a restaurant with rooms. Therefore it had limited facilities. We loved the quirky rooms and it’s position in Sidmouth. Very relaxed and the staff were delightful.
Room nice and clean facilities in the room good staff friendly enough breakfast was nice in a good lactation for the beach and shops sidmouth in general a nice place to visit
