Winchester is a delightful place to visit.
Winchester is a delightful place to visit. It blends the old with the new extremely well. The cathedral has to be seen inside. A guided tour is available which is essential to appreciate fully the cathedral's remarkable history.
Further attractions are the wide range of excellent restaurants and pubs,museums and historic buildings.

Lovely historical sites and museums.
Lovely historical sites and museums. A walk along the trail was refreshing and seeing Winchester from Saint Catherine's Hill and lunch at the Handle Bar cafe at Saint Catherine's Hill was good value for money, lovely fresh panini's and friendly staff, not to mention the cake.
Plenty of eateries on an evening and quaint streets.

Winchester is a charming city which needs you to fully explore. As well as the Cathedral and Great Hall, you should walk right to the end of the High Street as see what is down each street- particularly at the top of the town. There is a wide variety of cafes and restaurants. We had a Nepalese meal at Marse which was great with "ancient grains".
The Tourist Information Centre were fantastically helpful. Do walk the Water Meadows on the other side of the Cathedral and visit St Cross- following the river and in the spirit of John Keats. Finally, walk around the ruins of Wolvesey Castle.

Nice city, good shopping and eateries on the pedestrianised high street. The Cathedral, the Mill, Wolvesey Castle (ruins) and the Great Hall are all worth a visit. Relaxing walks along the river and through small roads, the architecture is beautiful and the city has a good atmosphere. The church of St Swithun is a little gem and the Peninsula Barracks with the Military and Gurkha Museums are interesting. We didn’t have the time to see the Hospital of the Cross nor the Dean Garnier Garden nor the College but we are leaving these for our next visit.

Had a business meeting and a social event in the middle of the city. This hotel provided everything in a perfect location. The one-way system was tricky to navigate and the street signs are poor, but that's not the Hotel's fault.
I wanted a cheap and cheerful room for the night and didn't want to pay Winchester prices. This room was perfect for what I needed.
Quiet location, easy to get too, lots of parking and a good breakfast.
I had a lovely stress free night and was able to enjoy a day in the nearby city without worry.
The pub downstairs was quiet and the room had plenty of drinks and snack available. Can't fault the hotel.
Location was excellent for walking to the Cathedral and other Winchester highlights.
Handy to be able to park on-site, although a fee of £12 per night seems a little expensive.
We didn’t eat in the hotel, so can’t comment on the food.
Tea & coffee-making facilities appreciated, though just 4 mini milks definitely insufficient. Happy to buy our own milk but wasteful, as no room fridge available.
We used the spa everyday, and found it very clean, I liked being able to dress for swimming in our room and wear a robe to the spa.
Breakfast was a good quality buffet.
Winchester is a lovely old city with lots of eateries and old buildings of interest especially the cathedral. We could walk from the hotel to the city centre in about 10 to 15 minutes
* Location of hotel, with an exceptional view of Winchester Cathedral
* Willingness of staff to help
* Comfortable room (the deluxe double)
* Good-quality breakfast
* Proximity to town centre
*Pre-ordered prosecco was presented as a complementary gesture, as it was delayed by a day (and thus spoiled the surprise on check-in)
Location is unsurpassed for Winchester. You really are in the centre of everything, minutes from the shop and cathedral, as well as the walking paths and St Catherine's Hill. The hotel is precisely what you would expect, with all the little luxuries. Highly recommend.
Booked last minute as came to Winchester for a night out for my birthday! We got at a bargain price on the day, literelly a 10 min walk into the night life which was perfect. Hotel had everything we needed for an overnight stay and will definitely stay again xxx
Great location only 3 mins walk from the bottom of Winchester High Street. Pretty place overlooking the River Itchen with ducks floating by. Has a parking space, albeit narrow, under the property. Both rooms had comfortable, double beds. Nicely appointed flat.
The location near to the centre of Winchester. The garden and the quiet location, no traffic noise. The car parking was very close and convenient. We liked the overall ambiance of the Hotel.
Quiet, beautiful rural location, but within easy reach of Winchester. Rooms and bar/restaurant had simple character, thoughtfully decorated. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast tasty.
the hotel was perfectly located for easy walk into the centre and walks around the cathedral.
The room was ok and clean and served a purpose which was solely to sleep after working all day.
Hotel was very nice and staff very pleasant. We were able to walk into Winchester, although it took about 40 mins downhill, so bus/taxi advisable for return to hotel. Breakfast was lovely!
A nice hotel with friendly staff. It's situated in the centre of the city, so it's convenient for visiting attractions. All the facilities in the room are top quality.
