The location was perfect as I wanted to be central. The staff were all very pleasant. The building and internal lay out was very interesting, tasteful decoration and interesting private lounges

Always greeted warmly by the front desk. The hotel is calm and inviting. The rooms were a good size, food was great, and I always enjoyed my time there

The room was spot on. Staff were brilliant and friendly. I enjoyed the burger and they serve a great pint of Guinness. I don't think you can ask for anything more.
Really nice old town, some nice coffee shops and cafes.

Quirky little shops and little alleyways to explore.
The canals are a nice place to walk and everything is in walking distance.

Stopped a couple of days in Devizes on our way to Wales. Great market town with lots of food and water holes. The White Bear is a buzzing little pub, with friendly customers and attentive hosts. Will return again, when hopefully the weather is nicer to us!

Lovely Georgian town with many original buildings.
Lovely Georgian town with many original buildings. The Caen Locks of historic interest and good to walk alongside. A good cafe at the top of the locks.
We ate at an Indian Restaurant opposite the Castle Hotel; excellent food.

I like Wadworth beer and as the brewery is here there was plenty of opportunity to go beer drinking. All the pubs we tried were interesting and friendly and the beer was well kept in all of them.
We had a good walk along the canal to see the long flight of locks and there were interesting shops in the town. We liked the tea shop in the Ginnal and the bakery for sourdough bread. Everyone we met was friendly.

Devizes looks a little bit rundown.
Devizes looks a little bit rundown. Beautiful buildings are not restored and kept at their best which is a great pity. One popular eating place had filthy windows with bird excrement on them which reflects a lack of pride and cleanliness of the people who own or rent out these buildings. A lot more money needs to be invested in Devizes if it is to attract people. It would be a shame to let this historic town go to complete ruin. People should take pride in their heritage and at the very least clean their shop front, shop windows and paint the façades.
However, Devizes is better than Crewkerne and Chard.

Devizes is far too reticent about its charms.
Devizes is far too reticent about its charms. It is a lovely small market town in the heart of some glorious countryside. It is packed with history and adjacent to the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal (especially the astonishing engineering feat of the Caen Hill Lock Flight, 30 mins' walk from the town centre). The town has many traditional pubs, and shops are quirky and individual rather than the standard chain stores you can find anywhere. (But don't come for a shopping experience.)
I am extremely pleased with my stay here. There was one extra kid in the family room, usually the hotels will be fuzzy, but The Bear Hotel (Devizes) were very friendly, they gave me extra little bed and extra pillows&sheets. No questions asked. The hotel was very clean and we had everything we needed. The lady who worked in the Breakfast area was very kind and polite despite single handedly serving 12 tables. She calmly listened to our requests, and politely responded.
As soon as you enter The Pelican you feel welcome. The landlady is amazing remembered our drinks from our only prior visit a month ago.
We were shown to our room, it was spacious, comfortable and everything worked as it was meant to . We were given excellent recommendations for food. We were warned there was karaoke on that night ( which we didn't hear).
Absolute gem of a find, superbly located. We are already trying to find an excuse to go back to Devizes.
Booked a night at the Castle Hotel to attend a work related function in Devizes. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, the whole building was immaculately clean and the room was well equipped with good quality furnishings. Our stay was rounded off with an excellent breakfast. The hotel is in a central location, was easy to find and near to public parking. Would not hesitate to stay again if accomodation was needed again in the Devizes area.
The Little House is in a central location in Devizes. Ideal for a couple or individual and, in our opinion, much nicer than staying in a hotel. It was spotlessly clean and very well appointed - everything had been thought of. A useful welcome pack with all the necessary items for breakfast was provided, along with WiFi, charging points, a smart TV, hairdryer, well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and contemporary shower room.
By far the best hotel in Devizes: the staff were unbelievably welcoming, as if I were a family member. Nothing was too much trouble.
Food was excellent - the service exceptional. Despite the bar being very busy on one night due to a local event - the staff still had time to make sure everything was ok, even delivering food to my room as there weren't any tables spare. Will only be staying here in future.
Beautiful little B&B located in the center of Devizes within walking distance to lots of pubs, restaurants and shops. Our room was immaculately clean and beautifully appointed. Pretty much the most comfortable bed and pillows we have ever had in a B&B. The breakfast hamper was delicious and thoughtfully put together. Wonderful accommodation for a very reasonable cost. We would definitely stay here again.
It had everything you could possibly need and with the hot weather they had a fan ready and waiting.
I know the area well , so can state that it's in a very good location. I was doing a charity walk so was particularly tired after walking in the heat all day, the apartment was perfect and had everything I needed.I extended my stay for another night. Can't wait to stay again.
We had a wonderful stay at the Black Swan - the historic aspect of the building gave it all the more character, renovated bathrooms and carefully curated furnishings/amenities in the rooms made for an exceptionally comfortable stay. We had both dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant and both were fabulous!
Location perfect as in middle of Devizes yet quiet and tranquil. Free parking also a bonus. Bedding was high quality, bathroom spotless and recently refurbished. Breakfast, chosen from list the night before, was supplied to room in hamper which we ate in courtyard, lovely.
Beautiful setting in the Wiltshire countryside.
The room was lovely & comfortable & the bathroom had a large shower!
Loved the heated towel rail, plenty of outlets & mirrors.
Breakfast was excellent with a range of options all freshly cooked to order.
Acceptional breakfast everything tasty and nicely cooked. Service good with a smile. Bedroom large and very comfy bed. Large, modern ensuite shower room. Really cant fault the hotel in any way.
It was nice to have a full menu breakfast. Very quaint hotel. Great location. Very historic building. Hosts were great! Food was excellent. Wish we could have stayed longer!
The rooms were lovely. Loved the second floor outside patio. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best we've come across at a uk hotel!
Very nice room, reception both welcoming & helpful, breakfast was delicious especially the cooked option, wifi strong, good location as the hotel is central
