Lyon is a gastronomic center with a pretty architectural facade ranging from antiquity to modern day. Place Bellecour is centrally located between the Saône and Rhône Rivers in the 2nd arrondissement and opens out into major shopping streets.
On the banks of the Saône lies the district of Vieux Lyon, a great example of the Renaissance and full of museums such as the Lyon History Museum. Winding your way through the beautiful streets you can make your way up to the spectacular white-stone Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière and look down over the city.
There is a lot going on in the main park of Lyon, Parc de la Tête d'Or, which is home to a zoo of exotic animals as well as various sports facilities and a large lake for boating. Boats of a different description are docked on the banks of the Rhône River; they host parties late into the night.
For a taste of tradition, Lyon’s famous bistros, or Bouchons Lyonnais, provide a cozy atmosphere for some of the best in French gastronomy. Plan your perfect holiday in one of Booking.com’s 130+ hotels, apartments or guest houses.
Fascinating history of Resistance during WWII. Beautiful city. Old Lyon was really special but super crowded. Walkable city. Many Michelin starred restaurants - we ate at Le Tiroir and it was fantastic. Not expensive either. 130 Euros for two.

I would recommend Lyon!
I would recommend Lyon! There is so much to see and a great walking city. We took the “free” walking tour and it was very good. I can’t remember the name of the site. Regardless, our guide was Bertrand and his love and passion for the city was infectious. Bravo to the city for opening this wonderful jewel to the world.

Public transport was easy to navigate, the locals were very friendly (compared to Paris for instance) the gardens are delightful and it was generally relaxing and calm city. Unfortunately, public toilets are nowhere to be seen and not that clean. There are water fountains but no drinking faucet in public views . Parache has female toilet with no toilet rolls and rubbish were piling up outside the university. It was public holiday when I was there so the libraries were closed.

Visit the Traboules - historic hidden passages behind buildings. This was our favorite attraction. We did this with the help from our hotel owner and reception man. The Basilica was another must to visit but be mindful this is a place of worship. Its peaceful and tranquil.
Make sure you cross the Rhone as well as the Saone.
Try the patisseries especially the ones in the quieter areas of the town, absolutely delicious.
We walked everywhere and when we got tired, patisserie or bar!
Would certainly visit this area again as there was lots we did not see.

Beautiful city in the South of France.
Beautiful city in the South of France. I stayed six days and used Lyon as a base to explore the area. It was my first time in Lyon and this part of France and I was not disapointed. Stayed on the Place Carnot near the
Gare Routière Lyon-Perrache. Great public transport available basicly next door. Lots of good restaurants and pubs to wet your whistle. Easy access to all the sights of the city as well.

Nice city for a city break.
Nice city for a city break.
I liked the city center and the Confluence museum.
I ate lyonesse food at the local "Bouchon", loved the atmosphere, but I was not impressed by the food. Tripe, fade sausages and a lot of ham, not on my taste. Not bad, but not great either.
Hôtel des Célestins was exactly as we hoped – clean, comfortable, friendly and full of character. The staff could not have been more helpful or more accommodating and the location was perfect, just a few minutes’ walk from Bellecour Metro station and its easy access to the airport. We had a fantastic view of the nearby Théâtre des Célestins, as well as the famous Basilica of Notre Dame of Fourvière, perched on its hilltop above the city. Breakfast was very good and the coffee excellent.
Very good quality for this price. Room was very clean. Little kitchen has everything basic needs. Also you can drink coffe, tea, hot chocolate for free. Good breakfast for this price. Near the train station Parte Dieu, near chattle to airport, near bus stop, 20 min walking till centre old town. If you have chance to be there sunday, there is market near bonapart bridge, where you can eat fresh oysters with nice view near Sona. If we will come back to Lyon, will book again this hotel.
We booked this hotel twice during our vacation in France. Both times were consistent - friendly staff, clean, comfortable beds, linens, and room. The hotel is perfectly located to everything but quiet surroundings at night. Highly recommended and will stay here again if I am Lyon. Ordered room service our first night because we were too tired to go out and also had a great experience with delicious food and a bottle of wine.
The hotel was small and very cozy. The staff of the hostel tel were so kind and welcoming down to the housekeeping staff. There were goodies laid out for the guest daily to snack on and snacks in the rooms and a fresh bottle of water every day. There was a new cê breakfast available each morning as well. The hotel was located close to several metro stops and we were able to travel throughout Lyon very easily.
The gentleman who was on duty Thursday morning, April 11th serving breakfast!!! Congratulations on his outstanding professionalism, welcoming manner and his effort to make us comfortable and satisfied. In fact, I have seldom met a hotel employee with such good skills!! He's to be commended for sure! The breakfast, scrambled eggs, fresh piping hot tea in a teapot was the best I've had in France for years!
It is excellently located in the middle
of everything you would want to visit in Lyon. The rooms are very comfy, clean and modern- and although located in the centre of a bustling city - very silent.
We cannot wait to come back to Okko Hotel- it is really the best choice for this city.
A, and everybody is very nice and ready to help.
All in al we loved it!
Claire was amazing. Despite the fact that she was alone at the property she went above and beyond to accommodate us. There rooms are very spacious for france! Renovated sweets are beautiful! Our AC didn’t work so they upgraded us to a bigger room for no charge. Very reactive lady claire very gard working. Thank you for making our stay memorable.
Food for breakfast was very healthy. I found the staff very helpful especially the Evening Receptionist who helped me repeatedly with the emails and my email account due to the air traffic controllers strike in France on Thursday. The cost was very reasonable over the days I stayed at the hotel.
The hotel is modern, clean, and it’s situated in the old part of Lyon, with lots of restaurants closeby. Nice staff, private parking (make a reservation!) and clean and modern roooms. Room and bathroom are very practical and moderately decorated. We had a great stay, thank you Collège Hotel!
The location was close to the places we wanted to visit. Breakfast was nice, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. While there are a lot of stairs as in many places in France, there is an elevator to help get the luggage up (and people too, if you don’t want to use the stairs.)
Location was excellent being close to the main train bus and tram terminal. Facilities and rooms were tidy and in good shape. Staff were friendly and answered any questions we had. Buffet breakfast was good value and probably a good choice as places in France do not open early!
Fabulous hotel. Brand new and staff is very accomodating. Very nice design to the rooms. Breakfast was very nice and hotel has all the amenities you could want. I was very happy with the quality of the hotel and service and it will be my go to when back in Lyon for business.
I always stay at this hotel when I come to Lyon because it's amazing: huge rooms, a bathtub, everything pristine clean, beautiful views over the river, a shopping centre attached, with a cinema showing original version films! What not to like!
Very friendly staff and eager to help and advice in any way, you will feel right at home there, great value for money, their was a fridge and a safe box that I did not find in other hotels but one during my trip to France
Enjoyed the stay. Quiet and clean hotel with friendly staff located near the Saône river. Bike rental is nearby by (Lyon Vélo’v), which makes it easy to ride to the city center by bike. A supermarket is also nearby.
Good price and good location, definitely not a 4-star hotel (France usually puts one star more than the hotels deserve), consider it a 3-star.
You can easily park for free on street in August.
