The hot air balloon was really the highlight of our tour in Luxor. No one should miss it along with the visits to the Valley of the Kings, Queens and Hatshetsup Palace. Downtown Luxor was also a must-see specially the old market place and the Luxor Temple and don't forget about the local food.

Luxor's archaeological sites are the most impressive I've ever seen. They are spectacular. I went in April, in spring, and the temperature reached 38 degrees Celcius. The locals told me that in summer the temperature will be around 50 degrees. The population appears to be very poor and the city is poorly maintained. Whenever possible, supplement payments with tips. This is expected by the people providing the services.

    So much !

So much ! Magic Carpet Tours were excellent, organising a wonderful balloon ride, a dreamy sunset felucca trip to Banana Island, an amazing driver called Hassim who took me to the Valley of the KIngs, Hatshepsut's Temple, Karnak, Memnon Colossi, Temple of Luxor, and didn't hurry me at all. He drove me to Aswan the next day via Edfu and Kom Ombo. Luxor is fabulous, busy, lots of street sellers trying to get you buy or ride in their horse carriage, but a polite 'La Shukran' (no thank you) was fine and they are just making a living like the rest of us! Nefertiti Hotel was a peaceful sanctuary, and I would not have missed Luxor for the world. Personal highlights: Karnak Temples and Seti's tomb at the Valley of the Kings - awe-inspiring.

The temples and archaeological sites are amazing.

The temples and archaeological sites are amazing. But beware of many people in Luxor trying to get you on the horse and cart, boats, sell you stuff, and who follow you around trying to con you. Dont be duped into going to the "one day a week" market that is a bazaar/shop in a dirty back street. If you dont buy anything they will demand 1000EGP anyway. The souk (market) is ok, but the harassment to buy is too much. I felt very uncomfortable after 3 days and wanted to get out of there

Luxor is a beautiful place with an immersive history.

Luxor is a beautiful place with an immersive history. Karnak & Luxor temple and Avenue of Sphinxes on East Bank of Nile & Valley of Kings/Artists, Hatshepsut temple, Medinet Habu, Deir-el-madina on the west bank are the places we visited during our stay. We didn't eat out as it was Ramadan and we wanted to be discreet with food when travelling to the sites. We hired a guide through Aswan individual to drive and explain the significance behind the places we visited and hence, unsure as to how to travel otherwise. Having a car would be better, as the sites are spread across the city, but a cycle would do just fine. It is better to start early in Luxor as it tends to get hot as the day progresses. So, we did most of our trips from around 7 till 2 and rested in the afternoons. We really enjoyed our time in Luxor.

Everything was good. The place was very nice clean and spacious. It's about 15 minutes outside the city, but the compound is situated right beside a nice market ( AL Rayah Market) and it has everything you would need to fix up a quick meal if need be. Our host was able to set us up on a hot air balloon ride and it was one of the most amazing experiences for our family here in Egypt. THANK YOU SO MUCH! We would encourage anyone to book the Sphinx Apartment for a nice little get away while in Luxor.

This is a 5 star hotel from the 70s . Rooms are stuck in antiquity. But having said that, the pools, reception foyer and ambience is exceptional. Front Desk staff are OK. But the staff who are at pool and room cleaning are attentive and warm. Please tip as much as you can, as it will help immensely. Breakfast was quite good and the staff here were very helpful. I picked the hotel for its convenient location. I enjoyed it so much because of the owner and staff. Food was excellent and generous. Also the room and outside sitting areas were so peaceful. Room was traditional Egyptian. It is a small hotel but central to everything. I could see the colossus of memnon from my room. I stayed at five hotels on this trip. This was the lowest price. This was my favorite. I was very happy here.

Owner is very kind and helpful. Good breakfast at the rooftop (jam, yogurt, cheese, scrambled egg, pitta, salad, tea, banana). West bank of Luxor is much more Egyptian and less tourist-focused than the shiny east bank. Cold water but clean swimming pool in the courtyard. One minute walk to the shopping street or the riverbank where cheap boats take tourists to the other side. A littlebit village atmosphere around the hotel.

After traveling in Egypt for several weeks, it was nice to have a little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. And after a day of sightseeing, relaxing by the pool was a welcome relief. We ordered food from the pool restaurant several times and we felt it was priced reasonably for the hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spotless. Breakfast was also outstanding with a lot of variety.

We stayed in various types of accommodation in our 5 week visit to Egypt. From 5 star resorts to basic 3 star hotels. By far we enjoyed our time spent here the most. Ali, our host and contact, was amazing. His service and attitude made the visit memorable and we remain good friends. I felt Ali and Temple House deserved a review from both Shayne and myself. It's not a double review but deserving of the praise.

I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Luxor and with how many amazing properties there are that's saying a lot! Absolutely gorgeous hotel, friendly service, all the amenities I could hope for, and a convenient ferry to the other bank. It was also the only food I had in Egypt that didn't ravage my stomach. They even were thoughtful enough to pack me a breakfast for my very early flight the following day!

Fantastic place to stay in Luxor. Mr. Sayed is an excellent host and really love hosting people. We had a great time from our check in to the reservation of the balloon ride. Best hotel I've stayed in Egypt so far. Furthermore, the breakfast is very good, so is the breakfast box. The place is very quite, close to the main attractions in the West Bank and the room is rather comfortable.
