Las Galeras was quieter than the last time we came.
Las Galeras was quieter than the last time we came. We had lunch and dinner at L'aventura de john and the good food is always there. we had our own vehicle, so it was easy to move around even if the main road is temporarily in bad shape due to some work. The best with our 3 teenagers was to spend the day at the beach

Si quiet and so quaint , restaurants are so family oriented the food and the area surrounding el pelicano is like living in a fairy tale, loved it , I’m definitely going back again on my next trip to the Dominican Republic
Beautiful (almost wild) beaches, amazing plants/ nature, tranquility, no crowd, great food. You'll find plenty of attractions: El Limon waterfall, horse riding, Boca del Diablo, el Ricon beach and lagoon, boat trips, real Dominican households, Rio Frio, marble mines and much more. What I would do better next time - I would avoid the east part of DR (Punta Cana, Boca Chica, La Romana, Santo Domingo etc) and hit directly to Samana.

Las Galeras can be a base camp for visiting a lot a wonderful beaches located near the place, like Fronton and Playa Madama, the ones we visited. As we didn't have more time, we couldn't visit other beaches that exist between Las Galeras and Playa Rincon. I recommend going there with enough time to explore. Do not Miss Restaurant El Cabito, where Tomeu will be able to enchant you with wonderful conversation and better food!

Due to the COVID -19 virus majority of shops and bars remained closed. Although the Dominican Republic has opened up for tourism this area financially appears to have been hit hard economically. Having been in this area many times before it was a shame to see the the situation for the local population who rely heavily on the tourist industry. Our stay was short but thoroughly enjoyable. getting to Las Galeras is fairly straight forward though entail a long car journey from the Capital. The roads are mainly good though if you have not driven in the DR before then it can be a bit daunting if you hire a car. Rules of the road don't really exist to an extent so be careful. There are plenty of sites to see some fabulous beaches and Rios, Sea fishing, horse back riding ATV tours, Zip lines and many other outdoor activities are available. Wherever possible i would advise shopping around for the best deal, if not a Spanish speaker get to know a local and tap into them for information they are more than willing to help for the cost of a few peso's

This is what the Caribbean probably looked like 40 years ago! Amazing nature, cocoa plantations, not so easy to get to beaches, get an RAV4 or similar, this will spare you the aggravation of not being able to get down a muddy road to an off the charts beach!!! Pan de Coco available by the side of the road, for the uninitiated, thats a flat round bread made with coconut water, instead of regular water...Superb snack, breakfast whatever...Drive, explore, hike, get out and see the place, you will not be disappointed.
This stay is a great location in Las Galeras - a beautiful walk to Playita (beach) and a nice distance walk into town (also peaceful and pleasant).
It’s a very relaxing location, pool and with kind staff.
Meals at Villa Serena nearby are a nice option for a view or if you desire additional diet options.
The host is easily reachable and welcoming, fluent in various languages.
Some Spanish or French is helpful in this area though you can get by without being practiced.
I stayed here and in the area for nearly 3 weeks solo with no problems.
As I told staff upon checkout, I've traveled extensively and stayed in many wonderful hotels around the world, but this one is at the top of the list. It is in an unbeatably beautiful location, the facilities are charming and clean, the food is consistently wonderful, and the staff is 100 percent warm and friendly. I cannot wait for my next visit. We had torrential rains during my stay which impacted the property, but the staff dealt with it all in the most professional and easygoing nature possible.
Congrats to Ulrich for being such a host! He gave us plenty of information on what to visit and how to get to various sightseeing locations.
The hotel is pretty close to the Las Galeras beach as well to the beautiful Playita beach. Next to the hotel there's a groceries store (if you like mango, watermelon). Whe the power went off in the village, luckily the property had its own generator as well as its own water pump.
Rooms also had terraces with a nice view over the garden and pool.
Great place to stay in Las Galeras. it’s close to beaches (there is 1 in front of the place but you can walk to the more famous ones), you can hear the sea from the room. The place itself is clean, cosy, double bed is really a king’s size. What we liked the most is the owner’s approach. He’s fluent in English, very nice and friendly person, helpful, provided us with a lot of useful tips where to eat, where to go, how to get there.. and on a top we had the most amazing breakfast!
Clean, quiet, very lovely garden, very central but beautiful and calm. Great if you go diving, "las galeras divers" is just 2 minutes away. Nice walk to the beach with bars, restaurants, boat outlets (for diving, boat-taxi), just about 4 minutes away. Nice walk to the beach at the back side of the hotel, lovely flowers and trees, a few meters further untouched coastal rainforest. Huge beach area for jogging, shadowy in the morning. Other very wonderful beaches are not fare away.
It was a great experience, Dominique was awesome with us, he asked questions we made and also brought recommendations about places to visit/eat. The place was clean, with beautiful decorations, and secure, with easy access to the main beach in Las Galeras and close (10 minutes) to other beautiful beaches. Easy access to restaurants (5 minutes walking). Great breakfast (we left early for Santo Domingo and Dominique gave us some sandwiches and fruit).
Place and rooms are lovely, exactly like in the photos. Hotel is spacious and designed to rest - there are room with private space for relax. My room had access to shared relaxing terrace and kitchen but I don’t regret choice, it was never too crowded. View was great as hotel is right by the ocean. Owner is superkind and helpful man ready to share useful tips and solve any problem.
Great service, very friendly owners. Sarah helped us a lot booking activities and taxis.
Cottage was cute and cozy with a lush environment
Very quiet street
10 minutes walk to the prettiest beach around (La Playita) and to Las Galeras restaurants and supermercados
On-demand Dominican breakfast was superb
Big jug of water and air conditioning in the cottage
Contact person (Orqui) is a unique person that reccommended us what to do. She took care about us so we could fully enjoy our vacation at Las Galeras!!! Thank you for your care!!
La Playita beach is one of the beautest beaches we have seen at Dominican republic and we highly reccommend to visit!!!
Thanks Orqui and her husband for great tip!!!
A small jewel in Las Galeras. Beautiful location at the seafront with a beautiful and well maintained garden. The view from our balcony (as from the main building) was absolutely perfect.
Super friendly and helpful staff.
Just a few minutes walk or car/boat away from the most impressive beaches.
We loved it! The place is so great. Rooms are big and you have your own big bathroom.
We also have a huge balcony which was amazing!
The garden looks awesome and there is a nice jacuzzi.
The owner is very nice!
Close to the hotel there is a beautiful beach.
We would love to stay here again!
awesome. very big and bright room at the rooftop, very relaxing area. they have in the hotel ping pong and hammocks, we extend our stay, and will definitely return. also wifi was really good even for watching movies and talking via video calls.
The fit and finish was of the best quality in the four hotels that we stayed in the DR so far. Everything worked well. The management and staff were excellent and were very accommodating of our needs.
From the hotel just outside you room the views to the sea and surrounding are espectacular, you can just sit and enjoy looking around while drinking something and smoking your preferred puro
The restaurant of the hotel is absolutely delicious and the 2 managers are great! it’s very well located and good value for money. Mattresses are comfortable and AC is working well.
The view from the rooms is awesome: what you expect from a Caribbean postcard! Plus the hotel is two minutes away from the center of las Galeras where most restaurants are
Location was excellent. Amazing ocean views and quiet environment; all you need for a relaxing weekend. Close to the best beaches Las Galeras has to offer.
