Colourful and historic, modern and colonial, local and touristic, Cartagena de Indias represents one of the liveliest Colombian beach resorts. Its character mixes cultures and peoples, including natives, Spanish, African and Arab. Its rich legacy granted its Old Town the recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
When the Spanish founded the city in 1533, the region had already been inhabited for thousands of years. It became an important port for the Spanish gold and a significant political centre. Echoes of those times can be seen throughout the historic centre, in the city walls, the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, and the colourful streets and colonial squares. Some of the best hotels in Cartagena de Indias can be found here.
Proudly Caribbean, Cartagena’s soul gives the rhythm to the streets, and the music coming out of cafés and restaurants is nothing but a physical manifestation of its collective spirit. Follow the beat, get to the seaside, and have one of your best holidays. Hotels near Cartagena de Indias’ beaches will be the perfect stage.
You can reach the city flying from Bogotá El Dorado International Airport to Rafael Nuñez Airport. Don’t miss this remarkable piece of Colombia, Booking.com offers you the best hotel deals in Cartagena de Indias.
Lots to do if you work with local tourist agents. Leave the area and go to Baru for glowing plankton or boats to Rosario archipelago. Old town. Watch out for street vendors selling trinkets and being too pushy.

The best attraction in Cartagena de Indias is the National Aviary of Colombia. There should be more options to visit it for more than 2 hours.
Photography tours with Paola Sanchez are also great for people who love photography.

A lot of great food options, best seafood in Colombia.
A lot of great food options, best seafood in Colombia.
Our favorites:
- La Cevicheria
- La Mulata
- Cafe del Mar ( bit pricey for what it is, but worth it for the sunset drinks )
- El baron ( great tapas in the middle of the square )
Town with a rich history and lots of important landmarks and sights to visit. Great colonial architecture, colorful streets and lively people.
It is very touristic, with a lot of locals non stop trying to sell/push tours/restaurants and goods on the street, felt a bit like India sometimes. There are great street performances of dance groups and artists happening, which i enjoyed a lot though!

Great place to visit as long as you don't mind being harrassed non stop by street vendors trying to sell you hats, cigars, sunscreen, tchotchkes and other things, having menus constantly thrown in your face or being honked at by multiple cab drivers if you stop on a sidewalk for even a second wanting to know if you need a ride. Everything worth seeing in Cartagena can be seen in one day, two tops if you want to see some places out side the city

Better to go to brasil for vacation. or Cuba. Cartagena is a little rough on edges and no good food to be had anywhere. Been here 20 times due to family. much better places to vacation in northeast Brasil and for much cheaper

If you are American, everything there feels like a price...
If you are American, everything there feels like a price gouge and/or a scam. You will pay New York prices for a very low quality experience advertised as being five stars top notch. I have traveled a fair bit and unfortunately nothing that we did in Cartagena was worth the price we paid for it - not the hotel, not the food (with the notable exception of Crepes & Waffles restaurant), not the history tours, not the snorkeling adventure. The scuba diving adventure, which we booked and paid through Viator, got canceled on us by the scuba company at the last minute (9pm the night before) only to be told by the next morning at 8am "if you pay us directly" we can still go. Needless to say, we didn't go. I felt pretty burnt. I would not recommend travel to Cartagena to anyone.

The host was very informative about everything which I really liked, the hotel was really nice and clean, same as our room, the views were spectacular from our room. Security was on top of everything making sure we were good with everything. We walked to the historic city which was about 15-20 min walk from the hotel which wasnt bad at all. Even though theres a shopping mall right next door with theres also a convenient store exactly 1 block behind the hotel, which was really good to know. I highly recommend this place if you visit Cartagena.
We wish we stayed here our entire time in Cartagena! It’s in a great location, plaza on the corner with lots of lively action and late night snacks. Salsa bars 2 blocks down. The host was incredible at responding to all of our questions and gave us a lot of recommendations. It’s a small, super simple hotel / room. It’s hot in Cartagena so for not really spending time in the room, but needing great coffee and a fantastic breakfast when you wake up, this is the spot. Highly recommend!
Staff was really nice, breakfast was great, there is a cute little dining area. You could choose between coffee, juice, tea, and arepa with scrambled eggs, fruit and cereal. I loved the air conditioning in the actual room, very cool! literally right across the street from the beach, and next door is Hilton, so it is an upscale neighborhood. There is a small patio in the hotel as well as a mini pool in the back by the dining area. Also rooms were huge! Super plus and with windows.
The decor of this hotel is amazing. I've visited Cartagena before and love the vibe of these small boutique hotels. The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff was super helpful in obtaining reservations for us throughout our stay, brokering the charter of a boat, and we even ate dinner from the hotel restaurant in a private room one night. The breakfast was perfect and there was a lot of variety. We visited in a group of 8 and we all absolutely loved our stay.
Our room had a really good view of the sea and the pool. The breakfast was very good and had variety. I arrived with an inflamed sciatic nerve and the personnel at the buffet volunteered and provided assistance immediately. Great fresh fruit and Colombian coffee . The location made it possible to get to town, to the airport quickly and cheaply on Uber. So we enjoyed the beach right outside the hotel and sightseeing with hop-on hop-off buses.
Staff is super friendly and detail oriented. The hotel is architecturally delightful on the inside. I have stayed in 3 different size rooms from small, to medium to the main suite - all of them are good rooms. It’s very clean. The on-site restaurant is great. I love the breakfast. Have stayed in a lot of hotels in Colombia, about 8 different places in Cartagena- and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Good spot!
This is a very high-end luxury hotel with top-notch customer service. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. Modern, well-thought, and stunning architecture. The staff is extremely attentive and really goes out of their way to make sure you're comfortable and happy. My 2 night stay was the perfect relaxing break from the chaos of downtown Cartagena. If you're looking for a luxurious beach paradise, stay here!
This is an impeccable boutique B&B, located right in the centre of the old city. It has beautiful , newly-furnished rooms with every conceivable mod-con and the most comfortable beds ever! The breakfast menu (and the cocktail menu) were both very elaborate. Itnotonly has a small pool(and jacuzzi), but you can also use the pool (and other facilities) of the sister hotel, located a block away.
Everything was amazing, staff at the bar, restaurants, front desk, etc. They were all so kind and extremely helpful. We planned our stay in another hotel and ended up switching hotels the first day to Las Americas Torre del Mar, and we were so glad we did. French fries were AMAZING!!!!! Transportation to the Old City was super easy. Definitely will be back very soon.
Great hotel in a convenient location close to (walking distance) the old city of Cartagena and Getsemani neighborhood. Very spatious and comfortable rooms with good A/C (you'll need it in Cartagena). Fantastic breakfast every day. Didn't use the rooftop bar (it was too hot while we were here) but it looked really nice and had great views looking East and South.
Location was excellent, but was also the only drawback. Gaiety in the street outside until well after midnight. Trinity Church plaza nearby was home to Indian folk festival, terrific breakdancing. Restaurants, art galleries, street food all close at hand. Total fun. Easy walk to Old City.
Yolanda and Gladys steered the ship magnificently.
THE HOTEL IS A CLASSIC IN CARTAGENA. HIS OLD FASHION MODE IS REALLY COOL FOR A PLACE THAT IS FULL OF HISTORY AND TRADITION LIKE THIS HOTEL. THE ROOMS SHOULD BE SOMELIKE REFURBISHED SPECIALLY THE AIR CONDITIONER A LITTLE BIT NOISY . THE STAFF IS VERY ATTENTIVE AND THE OPEN AREAS AROUND THE SWIMINGPOOL ARE VERY ENJOYABLE AND BEATIFULL .
The staff was wonderful! Denis, was exceptional along with the rest of the staff.
Location was really good. Manga is a really nice and safe neighborhood on a quieter side of the city.
I liked going out for a walk at night close to the seashore.
I actually came back multiple times to this hotel during my stay at Cartagena
Good service. The staff was very helpful and kind. in the pictures you get the feel of space, but the rooms and the hotel itself is cramped and small. Though small, which you have to expect in the old city of Cartagena, the hotel and rooms are very cozy and well designed. cute and stylish. Beds are comfortable!
Nice and quiet hotel outside of the busy streets of Getsemani and the old city, just a 10 minute walk to Getsemani. Had a few problems with the paying, but sorted it with Richard's help. All in all good stay also because of the kitchen we could use. And Richard was a great host
Moises always had a smile; he was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay! He made our stay in Cartagena that much more memorable. The hotel was in a great location, easy to walk everywhere in the center. Roof terrace was really nice in the evenings!
very nice location in the middle of getsemani. you can reach the old city, a lot of restaurants and bars, the haven and other common places by walking very easily. Also the staff of the hotel was very nice.
