The town of Punta de Choros was not very nice.
The town of Punta de Choros was not very nice. We went there to go on a tour of the local Humboldt penguin reserve. The town has about two or three restaurants and a few empanada stands. There's a small mini-market for food items. The beaches are nice, but they have no services, including no toilets or changing areas. Since the bird flu killed most of the penguins in 2022, I would not recommend visiting Punta de Choros. There are much nicer places to visit in Chile.RamirezUnited States of America - 8.0Scored 8.0
The main attraction is a trip with a ship to the islands...
The main attraction is a trip with a ship to the islands which are close to Punta de Choros. It is important to start your trip in the morning, because in the afternoon the penguins are not ashore. I haven't got the system, which ships can get their passengers onto the island and which cannot. (There were many persons walking around on one island, but our ship didn't land!?) Another attraction are the Copiapoas on the northern edge of Punta de Choros. There are nice spots along the coast to take a look at Copiapoa coquimbana and Neoporterias. The hills in the region are a good place to watch foxes (Zorro chilla). Carry enough fuel because it takes 100 km to the next gas station!
