Would be helpful if there was a bus on Bellville st.
Would be helpful if there was a bus on Bellville st. As it’s a long walk for a handicap person to walk up to Douglas st.
Over all felling Victoria needs to do more to make the city more handicap accessible. Many businesses have stairs that are very restricted.

Victoria is a great city to visit for a walking visit.
Victoria is a great city to visit for a walking visit. Don't bother with a car - parking is expensive or non-existent. Skip the tourist shops on Government Street (except Murchies Teas). Beacon Hill Park is nice especially in spring or summer. The walk around the waterfront presents some interesting views. The Royal British Columbia Museum is a great place to learn about the history of western Canada. Overall, a nice, comfortable place to visit with slight British flavor.

I lived in Victoria for 20 years and have stayed at the Emptess numerous times before and since. I find your attitude and facilities impersonal and commonplace. No individuality or character.
Run of the mill. Even the Union Club is more comfortable.
The Empress had a certain atmosphere you have lost it. No different than any other American hotel. I would stay at the Magnolia for convenience or Dashwood Inn. The only difference between the the Emptess and Sandmans is price.
You do have excellent staff. All your recent “ improvements seem to be money oriented and an effort to be “ politically correct “

Victoria is a beautiful city.
Victoria is a beautiful city. We were able to experience most of it on foot and bicycle. People were so kind and we felt safe the whole time. We also used city transit which is very clean and safe. Very impressed with our overall visit and I hope I can get back to see more. On a side note, we were there in April and many things were closed on Mondays. And a lot of the city doesn't open until 10 am even on regular work days. One of our favorite things was Fishermans Wharf. The food and atmosphere were fantastic!

A nice place to spend a quiet weekend away from the hustle...
A nice place to spend a quiet weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver. Downtown is easy to navigate with a lot of options to dine - restaurants, cafes and bars. Don't miss Milano coffee shop. The coffee and breakfast items are amazing. There are a couple of gluten-free and dairy-free options too. You won't need a car if you plan to explore the city but may need one to get there from Vancouver as it's a solid 30 minutes drive from Swartz Bay. All types of cuisines available in downtown - Canadian, Indian, Asian, Italian, fine dining, fast food etc. One sad thing though is that there were people sleeping in front of stores during the night. They did not look like junkies and rather just unfortunate to be in that situation. It was safe to wander about in the night but would not suggest to stretch your luck late into the night.

Very safe, clean, driving not an issue, many to see and do...
Very safe, clean, driving not an issue, many to see and do and surprisingly inexpensive. Buchart Garden is a must see. Having tea time or a little bite with a glass of wine at the Empress is a great experience. Driving along the Fisherman's Wharf up.to those beautiful homes and communities is a great feeling.....positive thoughts in life.
The inn is a lovely Victorian building with a lot of character in James Bay Neighbourhood which is surrounded by older homes and beautiful gardens but close to inner harbour, museum, Parliament building, Empress Hotel, and two blocks away from Beacon Hill park and nearby bay front walkways. It was so convenient to have a restaurant below where we could start our morning with breakfast in the spacious dining area. Staff at the reception desk and in the restaurant were so welcoming and helpful. The service was exceptional.
This hotel is located right on the inner harbour across from downtown Victoria but joined by the West Bay walkway connecting you right around to downtown. The staff are friendly and inviting. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and extremely clean. The beds are so comfortable with the most amazing, cozy bedding. The drapes enclose the room in complete darkness for the best sleep. The covid protocols in place have been very well thought out. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel!
We loved the helpful friendly staff. We really liked the room. It was clean. It had a kitchenette. It had a bathtub which I need. It was perfect for us seniors. We also liked the pool and used it every evening for winding down the day and retiring for the night.
We loved the location as The Galloping Goose bike trail was adjacent to the hotel. One could bike to downtown Victoria for entertainment. It wasn’t too too expensive and it was affordable for us seniors.
I loved the heritage building, the views, and the thoughtful and attentive staff. The historic charm and guest friendly atmosphere made me nostalgic for a time past. I felt rested and reconnected. The optional delicious breakfast in the lovely dining room topped if off. I also loved the quiet location bordering the heart of the Rockland area of Victoria. We were an easy distance from Cook St. Village, Fernwood Village, Oak Bay and downtown Victoria.
We were welcomed as if we were the most important guests ever to check in. Quiet location yet so close to downtown and the Mayfair Mall.
The young man at the desk ( Eric? - I am sorry not sure) was so polite and helpful. Your restaurant was closed for renovations ( not mentioned on your web site) and we had invited friends to join us for breakfast. Hie recommendation was superb. Without doubt, you are our go to hotel in Victoria
This location was perfect for me because I'd booked a Prince of Whales tour nearby and was able to walk to the meeting spot within a few minutes. This hotel is right by the Victoria Harbor. Tons of shops and restaurants within walking distance. This hotel was basic but clean and comfortable for the one night that I stayed. Made use of the fridge and microwave. Free parking was an added bonus.
Its a great, quirky boutique hotel with so much character, in the heart of downtown Victoria. The front desk person (Wren- sp?) was incredibly professional and friendly. He upgraded us to a room with a view of the inner harbor. We'd go back simply bc of how great he was
We came to Victoria on the ferry from Port Angeles and I didn't realize it at the time of booking but this hotel is located directly across the street from the ferry port. It was perfect! Very nice area and just a short walk to the main downtown shopping streets.
We really liked the location of the hotel, they are in the heart of downtown victoria and very accessible to all areas of downtown, too bad we didn't have the chance to use the bus transit to experience how is the commute in Victoria.
The location was great, close to downtown Victoria and the shopping malls. Nice that the galloping goose trail runs right along the back at the hotel. The room was tastefully decorated with modern decor and very clean.
Will be back think we found our newest road trip hotel in the Victoria area
Would highly suggest you do the buffet breakfast down in the Metropolitan bar and grill
Rooms were great beds were comfortable
Best birthday trip I ever spent. Very friendly staff and awesome rooms with great views of the city. It is a phenomenal location as well. This will be our go to hotel whenever we visit Victoria
The hotel staff were wonderful. Our suite on the 3rd floor was large, quiet, clean & comfortable. The location was great for exploring the city of Victoria. We enjoyed the balcony.
