Canto do Ile was the highlight of our trip to Brasil. The property is absolutely beautiful, and the way it's set up brings everyone together in the dining room to make it feel like a home. Everyone who worked there treated us like friends that they have known forever -- Lisa, Sergio, Fabiano, Emilia, Daniel, Leonardo, Maruscka and Rafael were so warm and had such excellent recommendations for us. We loved our diving experience with Sergio and Emilia's cakes and cookies were incredible. The historic center is a must-see town with amazing food and views, and the short bike ride into town was a great way to see more of Paraty.

Paraty is surrounded by emerald green forests attached to mountains that plummet directly into turquoise waters or white-sand beaches. The cobblestone streets and colonial houses of the city centre pay homage to its Portuguese roots, and accessible islands and secluded beaches lure the sun-seeking crowds.
White buildings decorated with colourful door arches and window surrounds line the small lanes of the historic old town. The 17th-century First Church of Our Lady of the Remedies watches over the shaded eastern meeting point of Matriz Square.
North of the canal are Pontal and Jabaquara beaches that are split by the Perpetual Defender fortress, built by the British in the 18th century. Hiring a boat will take you out to more remote islands like diving hot spot Ilha dos Meros or unspoilt Paraty-Mirim Beach, south of the city.
As part of Brazil’s Costa Verde coast, the nearby Gold Trail and Serra da Bocaina National Park highlight the native Atlantic forest and fauna such as the sloth.
Whether you are seeking a peaceful nature retreat, beachside guest house or city centre hostel, Booking.com has an option for you.
Paraty is a little bit of heaven.
I love the water, the beaches, the islands and the jungle. Hire a boat and explore!
Every night the city is a block party with tables in the street and music spilling out of restaurants.
Don't miss the historical museum.

It’s a must see for any visitor or even Brazilian.
It’s a must see for any visitor or even Brazilian. A beautiful town with a historic center. The city has various nice restaurants (but usually quite pricy) and shops.
Since it’s not in the mountains, it’s easier to visit than for example ouro preto.

I think 1 or 2 nights is just right.
I think 1 or 2 nights is just right. It is nice to do a layover in Paraty because on the bus ride to and from (Rio/Sao Paulo) you can see quite a bit of the smaller towns and nature. If you did a bus direct from SP to Rio it would stick to the main highways and you wouldn't see as much. Worth a visit if you have time but keep in mind everything will be slightly more expensive as local tourists also like coming here. There are also lots of festivals so depending if you like festivals you could time your trip to coincide with one of them. During my stay there was a gastronomy festival which was pretty cool. They had cooking demonstrations and free samples of stuff.

Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam.
Paraty is nothing more than a tourist trap and scam. It is just 4 streets of colonial buildings with arrogant people. It is marketed extremely well as you believe that Paraty is a village of only colonial buildings however to our surprise they have added (obviously quite some time ago) more buildings and a bigger village the new town shall we call it. It is full of homeless people and danger the floor is disgusting and the people are intimidating. The supermarket is poorly built shed with insects everywhere and extremely overpriced. we left a day earlier than planned as we could not wait to escape the hell hole.

Paraty has a very smalll historical area. Unless you want to take a boat trip you can view the area in a couple of hours. The beaches in Paraty itself are not very nice for swimming but outside there are beautiful beaches and areas.

The apartment is in a beautiful location surrounded by rivers and rain forest with interesting plants and animals everywhere. The hosts could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. A perfect place to relax and unwind.
The hotel location is very close to the main town center of Paraty but away from the noise at night. The hotel has a beautiful garden and the property is well maintained. The staff were very friendly and happy to help with anything we needed (such as recommending restaurants and making a dinner reservation for us). The breakfast was good with fresh fruits and a la carte options to order. The complimentary afternoon tea/coffee and cake was a nice touch.
Gina is the owner and happens to be a very special lady. She takes care of absolutely everything - especially her lovely garden.
The hotel was extremely comfortable, super clean and rooms were spacious. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breaksfast was top notch, with a wide variety of options ranging from cakes to fruits to free sugar and no gluten foods.
Beautiful romantic bangalos very well furnished and the hotel is surrounded by nature feels like a mini jungle with a pool. Very good location 10 min by car from the center. Transport can be provided by the hotel all day. Kaio and Camila are so nice they were very helpful with all arrangements and tips. I highly recommend staying with them in Paraty.
Beautifully decorated pousada (didn't get a chance to use the very inviting pool). Breakfast was best in Brasil for us! Our favourite fresh fruits and an introduction to many local pastries.... Junior, João, & the lady who served breakfast, were so helpful and pleasant. Casa Simone Pousada in Paraty is definitely worth a stay.
We liked our stay at Pousada Ana Lua. The staff was great, made us feel very welcomed.
The location is also good, just outside the wall of the old center, one of the best places to stay.
The rooms are old but the new management is improving them with nice furniture and touches.
The breakfast was also decent, we liked it..
The staff at Che Lagarto is super helpful and friendly - to the point that they were helpful to also accommodate some friends of mine who needed a quick shower after some waterfall tracking, with no extra charge. They were keen on connecting people with interests alike during breakfast - special thanks to Nilton for that!
We enjoyed our stay at Pousada Arte Urquijo thoroughly. Very comfortable bed, cozy rooftop room with view, friendly staff and great breakfast. We enjoyed talking with the owner Maria Cruz very much and hope to return again one day. A perfect spot to stay for anyone enjoying art and a little getaway in Paraty.
We decided to change our itinerary and stay in Paraty for two extra nights because we liked it so much, we booked this hotel on a whim last minute and it ended up being one of the best places we have ever stayed! The staff, pool, bar, location, gardens, decor, rooms... really everything was excellent!!
Casa Turquesa is an incredibly charming hotel. Not only the Pousada itself is absolutely beautiful and curated with utmost taste, but the staff go out of their way to make your stay lovely and as comfortable as possible. Staying at Casa Turquesa feels like being at home: a gem of a home.
My partner and I stayed in 5 different hotels/resorts in Brazil. This is by far the best one of you want a relaxing and recharging your experience. Gustavo, Flavio and Andresa will take good care of you and the whole staff will spoil you through your stay!
It's a very good option if you're not staying for a long time but you want to stay near the historical city center of Paraty. Good breakfast and everything is clean. We stayed only one night and it was good é enough.
Everything was perfect. Very quite nice little pousada. Breakfast is unique and delicious. The staff and the owner absolutely friendly and the owner has very good tips on what to do and where to eat in Paraty.
Our stay in Paraty was lovely with our host Betty. She is a lovely host and made breakfast for us everyday. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. She had safe and secure parking for our car.
Great little pousada with super friendly staff. Value for money indisputably super. Location is on a side barn and it is a little walk into the center of Paraty (as indicated in the description).
location it’s amazing, super close to the city center, overall I like it, very simple breakfast, hotel have options to travel around Paraty with boats, jeeps …staff is very nice !
