Nestled on the banks of the Tamar River, Tamar River Retreat offers self-contained cottages with a fully equipped kitchen. All cottages feature lovely garden and river views and a free breakfast hamper. Tamar River Cottages is within an 8-minute drive of both Lavender House and Holm Oak Vineyards. It is a 20-minute drive from Seahorse World and a 40-minute drive from Launceston city center. All air-conditioned cottages feature a dining and lounge area with a flat-screen TV and a DVD player. They have ironing facilities and an private bathroom. Guests enjoy an outdoor dining area and a BBQ. The retreat offers a range of onsite clinical hypnotherapy services. Guests can relax outdoors on the terrace, set among the lovely gardens, or enjoy a hike. Free laundry and ironing facilities are provided. Your free breakfast hamper includes eggs, cereals, bread, butter, jams, fruit, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits.

Tamar River Retreat is a very special place. Located on 3 acres with magnificent views overlooking the beautiful Tamar River, Tamar River Retreat is a private, peaceful and tranquil oasis tucked away off the beaten track - but still close to the iconic Batman Bridge, shops and all of the amenities and attractions any visitor could want. Surrounded by forest and wonderful mature gardens and adjacent to Bonnie Beach this historic property and former cherry orchard offers two spacious, well-appointed and comfortable self-contained cottages situated beneath the canopy of giant pine trees and oak trees, some of which are more than150 years old. Relax, unwind and escape to the beauty of this natural paradise - you will be glad you did!
The Tamar Valley is a diverse and historical region (first settled in 1804) offering a great variety of things to do for singles, couples, families and people of all ages and nationalities. In particular, the area is home to dozens of excellent wineries and cellar doors. There are many restaurants, cafes and shopping facilities readily available. The Valley follows the magnificent Tamar River from its opening to the sea to the City of Launceston, some 80km upstream. The river is several km wide in places and often looks more like a lake than a river. Several quaint small townships dot its shores. Boating and fishing are common activities and there are excellent views over the river and mountains for elevated vantage points on both sides of the river. The Tamar Valley is one of Tasmania's and Australia's most privileged and unspoiled locations offering ample wildlife, beautiful scenery and tranquil places that will lift your spirit. Cows, sheep, horses and Alpacas grave peacefully on surrounding green rolling hills. The local climate and weather is often milder and warmer than other parts of the State. The iconic Batman Bridge provides easy access to both sides of the River.
