The view was nice, but not exactly a tropical paradise. I mean, there's a boardwalk with hundreds of people right there it's not exactly a place you can admire the tropics from. Also the waitress who brought us food to the room was very patient with us. That was nice.

Positive: Skyrail and historic train, nature, pool in Cairns...

Positive: Skyrail and historic train, nature, pool in Cairns, boardwalk, Botanical Gardens (absolute highlight!!!). Don't miss Emerald Creek Ice Creamery - lots of varieties and very yummy! Dundee's restaurant offered outstanding food and an incredible venue with a massive fish tank to look at while dining, it's pricey, but worth it. The Daintree is as exciting as ever. Solar Whisper Croc Cruise was really good. Daytrip to Atherton Tablelands was lovely. Rusty's market is a must! Only downside of Cairns: dining is fairly expensive in general.

We went at the start of the dry season.

We went at the start of the dry season. The weather was very warm but still humid. Cairns central has great public facilities. The swimming lagoon is fantastic for all ages and has surf lifesavers in attendance. BBQ cookers all along the Esplanade, excellent playgrounds. Muddy Waters in particular, the kids went crazy. Of course you go for the reef trips and the train trip and the Skyrail up to Kuranda village. A lovely day out in beautiful rainforest. Port Douglas and Mossman are a drive north if you have the time, they are another must see in this scenic part of north Queensland. A drive up onto the Tablelands opens up a different part of the area. Natural and historical attractions. It's worth the drive.

A worn and sadly lacking site.

A worn and sadly lacking site. It has all the hallmarks of investors who rake in the money but don't spend any money or maintenance and improvements. They could raise their star rating if they cared to invest in renovation., The lady at the front desk was very friendly;y. What a shame she has to represent such a sad venue.

The environment in general is the thing I liked the most. There is little opportunity to interact with people outside of those in our circle of the delegation, including the hosts and those slotted in the program, during that trip. I would like to see more people to people interaction.

    Excellent location.

Excellent location. You may not need a rented car if you stay in the central location. We stayed here for 5 days. Went to Great Barrier Reef, Green Island, Used the sky rail to go to Kurandra and came back by Scenic Rail. Snorkling at both Green Island and Great Barrier Reef was too good.

Friendly staff, very helpful! Very close to the hospital! Had to fly from Sydney to Cairns due to family emergency. Whilst circumstances weren‘t great we had a very convenient stay and we thank 181 The Esplanade for accommodating us the way they have been! Very grateful that we were allowed early check-in and were able to book additional days on day by day basis as we weren’t sure how long we would have to stay!! Thanks again! Pool facilities were lovely. Apartment was very spacious with a nice view!!

Fantastic location within walking distance to the bars and restaurants on the esplanade without being right on top of it. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to help us out. Accommodation was comfortable and clean, perfect for an affordable family vacation. The set up of our two bedroom apartment was ideal with the rooms being separated by the two bathrooms and laundry. The Bay Leaf restaurant was wonderful. Staff were friendly and the food delicious.

Super clean room, and the friendly, attentive staff impressed me right off the bat. The hotel was located within walking distance of all the Cairns attractions that I visited. The kitchen had everything I needed during my stay. The beautiful pool was clean and serene, and it never had more than a couple people in it at a time. I extended my stay here twice! Also, the manager accomodated a late checkout without hesitation. Would stay here again if I return to Cairns.

The best property in Cairns if you’re looking for the best location. It is centrally located and walking distance from all the major attractions like esplanade, casino, the dock and has all the restaurants nearby. Best part was the trees outside the hotel where hundreds of beautiful birds chirp all the time and is a melody to the ears. must stay at this hotel if you’re visiting Cairns.
