On this private guided tour, you will be driven around Zhangye to visit two Buddhist sites. Your first stop will be Mati Temple where you’ll find 1,600-year-old caves carved into rock cliffs and surrounded by mountains and greenery. As you explore the area, you will hear how these caves served as altars for monks and a place of refuge for traders taking the Silk Road.
Afterwards, you will head to Dafo Temple where you will get to see the 34.5-metre-long reclining Buddha statue, which is said to be the largest indoor Buddha statue in China.
