On this self-guided tour of the Kulata Ethnographic Complex, you'll have the chance to discover the traditional culture and history of Bulgaria. The complex features two houses that represent the region's traditional lifestyle and culture. You'll first tour a replica of a 19th-century peasant's home with a wooden shed that holds traditional farming equipment.
You'll then tour the two-story House of Hadzhi Eno, which was built by a wealthy rose merchant. Famous for its columns and arches, the house was built in an architectural style common during the Bulgarian National Revival period. Before finishing the tour, you can watch a rose-distilling presentation and sample rose liqueur. You can also test some essential oils and try jam made from oleaginous roses, one of the symbols of Bulgaria.
