Skyscrapers and the frenzy of busy Sao Paulo are matched by countless gastronomic offerings, endless cultural activities, and a busy nightlife.
Founded by Jesuits in 1554, the city also known as Sampa became a powerful industrial hub in the late 19th-century with Greater Sao Paulo now boasting almost 20 million inhabitants. Attracting immigrants from all over the world, it became the most ethnically diverse city in Brazil.
Walk down Avenida Paulista and immerse yourself in one of the biggest economic centres in the world. This avenue also represents the heart of Brazil’s cultural scene, hosting numerous venues. Don’t miss the Museu de Arte de São Paulo, home of the biggest collection of Western Art in Latin America.
You can find Sao Paulo hotels in the lively centre, but if you’re looking for a more relaxed atmosphere you should check out hotels in Sao Paulo's Jardins neighbourhood. Offering a laid back feel with bohemian bars and artisan shops, Vila Madalena is also a good alternative.

I live here, so I have to deal with this city's problems every day. Traffic is heavy, service is subpar (but better than anywhere else in the nation), and crime and drug use have engulfed the downtown area and its immediate surroundings. The city is pretty ugly. Nevertheless, if you want a place in Brazil that's serious and actually features things to do, São Paulo is it. Once in a blue moon, someone speaks English; there's actual infrastructure for tourists; you can eat properly in a consistent manner; and there's always (and I mean always) something to do at night.

The city is a nice place for those looking for a variety of restaurants. It is a very expensive place, with an awful traffic, reasonable public transportation (outside rush hours, please), and some interesting cultural activities. Although the city is deemed unsafe, in the more central/fancy areas, it is as safe any other big metropole. There are also very good shopping options.

Sao Paulo isn't the biggest tourist place to go in Brazil but it has lots to do and it's amazing! We felt safe at all times but of course, we took precautions such as keeping our valuables out of sight. But at no point, we felt in danger.

One of the best cities in the world, reminds NYC for its size, skylines and demographic complexity, but with a better public transportation, tropical weather, way cleaner then NY and Paris, warmer and more welcoming people then most places in the world, food is way better then most big international cities and all the restaurants are not overpriced, basically the life quality in S.Paulo is superior to the mainstream big capitals of the world and you can basically live better then a king without being a millionaire.

There is too many homeless people but do not harm.
There is too many homeless people but do not harm. This only makes the environment dirty and smelly. If you secure yourself, if you do bot put yourself in a bad situation like going alone in the late night to somewhere yo do not know, this ofc attracts danger.
Sao Paulo is very nice. I believe 3-4 days will be enough for the city.
I highly recommend Ibirapuera Park. You can spend your whole day away from the chaos. And I can recommend Sala Sao Paulo. You can watch concerts inside, and it quite cheap.
I have stayed at this hotel 4 times... I like how accommodating and friendly the staff members are... My flight from Los Angeles always landed early in the morning and they always let me check in early. After long hours flying this is a big plus to me... I love that they have a small gym, a coworking with high speed wi-fi, 2 restaurants, a pool and excellent location in São Paulo, near the Paulista Ave with free shuttle service to the shopping mall. Will keep on coming back. The price is perfect for what the hotel has to offer.
This hotel was amazing! The hotel is located in the heart of São Paulo. It is a hotel, college dormitory, and hostel all in one. The rooms were perfect, I arrived hours before check in and was able to stay in one of the hostel beds until my room was ready. And I must say I almost considered just staying in the hostel portion of the hotel because it was so nice and clean. This property is modern and impeccably clean. The hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful, especially Ana. I will definitely stay here again!
In addition to the fact that we had a bank card stolen from a wallet we left in our room in our last night at this hotel, and wasted our last morning in São Paulo registering the crime with the local police, our four nights stay was full of small disappointments. This hotel definitely needs some updating and management changes. No one at the reception, or restaurant, could speak any English or was prepared to deal with the occurrence of a crime. Definitely not worth.
The hotel is right in the central so that the streets around the hotel are really dangerous, however the hotel crew are so helpful and nice and give u information about what we should watch out in the street. Also rooms are very clean, housekeeper cleans everyroom everyday. In addition we liked the breakfast they serve. If you like to feel the real sao paulo in the central in everyway of it, we definitely recommend this hotel...
I stayed here for two nights on arriving in Brazil and before leaving for Manaus. The bed was not particularly comfortable, but the place was really great fun. It’s in a very good area, and the place itself is full of life and fun. Everyone has the opportunity to socialise as much as they wish, and the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. It has a very positive vibe, and I cannot imagine a better place to stay in São Paulo!
One of the best hotels we’ve stayed in São Paulo, lovely staff upon arrival, very helpful food recommendations. The room was really big, air conditioned, very clean and a really nice environment to stay in. The breakfast was tasty and room service/ snacks are available which is handy. Overall good experience, would highly recommend the hotel and would definitely stay here again!
Hands up to the best breakfast in town! incredibly delicious homemade brazilian food, I was surprised by the variety and quality of the menu.
Don’t miss out the Brazilian couscous.
The facility was very clean and the staff is friendly but I’d like to emphasize the efficiency of their best employee Carol. She helped me with mostly everything I needed during my staying.
We were really comfortable in our 2 rooms. The location worked great for our plans to explore the city. The breakfast was one of the best during our entire Brazil trip. And the lady manager was a delight to deal with, very professional and extremely helpful to my family. We felt very welcomed and enjoyed our stay here! Recommend!
Convenient Location and room is Ibis Budget Style, so no disappointments.
It was clean, check in was simple and fast, breakfast buffet was pretty good for a budget hotel.
Good price and overall cost-benefit ratio. If you are alone or a couple it's a good place to stay for a couple of nights in Sao Paulo.
Good location but very basic rooms overall. Entrance lobby is pleasant and breakfast area also pleasant and bright...Breakfast is OK as in any hotel in Brazil it is about bread, bread, sugar and carbohydrates⋯⋯
Also wifi was good which is not always the case in Brazil...
A nice hotel in an easy to locate part of town. There were shops nearby, and some of the nicer tourist points in Sao Paulo were within walking distance.
The staff were all very friendly and kind, especially when there were language barriers.
Great hotel for short business trips in Sao Paulo, great value for money. Very pleasant and professional staff.
Rooms are very clean, simple and everything is really organized.
Breakfast was really good and the staf was also really nice.
It got all the essential stuff for a staying, doesn't have luxury services, but that's the goal of the hotel, if you need a place where to sleep and spend a lot of money, while you're visiting São Paulo, is a very good choice.
Not the best neighborhood in Sao Paulo, but hotel was clean, comfortable and competitively priced. I got an early. check-in without any problem. Helpful staff, even though they only spoke Portuguese, and I didn't.
It was the second time we had stayed at this hotel. Melia Ibirapuera is our choice every time we travel to Brazil and stop in São Paulo. The room was clean and very comfy. They have an amazing breakfast!
Great and very helpful staff, clean and comfortable room, good and varied breakfast. Always stay in this hotel when in São Paulo and I highly recommend it.
