FAQs about hotels in Amsterdam

The Best Culture and Nightlife this Side of a Canal

Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.

Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Center with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Lights District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveler might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

All these attractions are just a short train ride from the Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Whether you want to stay at a cozy hotel on a canal, a modern apartment in a quiet part of the city or a room in the center of everything, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Amsterdam vacation.

A really nice city, full of character and history. Even the weather doesn't hinder the charm. Very easy to go around with bus, tram, metro and trains. People are very nice and welcoming. Be careful to book your attractions in advance as most of the museums are booked well in advance (6 weeks for Anne Frank's house!!!)

The smell of drugs was a bit too much in some areas, avoiding the small narrow streets is a good idea and just sticking to the main high streets. The boats trips are a must for any new person visiting, they are very imformative and worth the price.

If you plan to mix work and travel you have to book longer stay. I amsterdam card for atleast 3 days. Book a visit to Rijksmuseum in 3 days so you can actually see all of it it's huge, half a day for the zoo. You don't need a car. You can get from anywhere to everywhere by bus, metro or train. Download GVB for info and tickets. Pack warm clothes it's cold, locals are with short sleeves on 12 C, but it's sea cold with mist and wind.

I love Amsterdam. Its my ultimate destination.

I love Amsterdam. Its my ultimate destination. Siting on Leidseplein watching the world go by. How lucky can someone be. Amsterdam is mesmerizing. Its alive. The dutch have built the greatest city in the world. I understand it has many problems that a tourist does not see. That said its an urban playground for adults. It has a laidback vibe that everyone should experience. I understand that tourism is a real problem in such a confined space so I fully encourage the off season if you decide to go. October through Christmas is out of this world.

This was one of the best hotel experiences I've had. Clean and comfortable room, very friendly stuff, great location (even though the hotel is not in the city center, it is less than a minute walk from the metro). The breakfast was good as well (the dishes dont change much but there is a big variety of them so we could change when we wanted). It was quite and warm in the room (we stayed in April and it was quite cold outside). Overall, I am very happy and will probably stay here again.

Fantastic central location, close to Westerpark with plenty of pubs and restaurants. Bus stops close by to take you further into the city center. If travelling by car, we recommend parking for 1 euro a day at P+R car park Bos en Lommert. Only condition is you have to take the bus outside car park to the city, but it's easy and cheap and the bus stops 150 m away from this hotel. Same when picking up the car. Do this and parking in Amsterdam costs 1 euro a day!

Location is perfect, in the canal district, everything within walkable distance and so many boutique shops nearby. Hotel lounge/bar is very beautiful and so are the rooms. There is also a super cute cat in the hotel lobby to greet guests! I guess she’s the manager? I rubbed her belly everyday. :) I have stayed at quite a few hotels in Amsterdam over the years, from $300/night to $1500/night places. This is arguably THE best hotel for VALUE.

This is such a convenient hotel for Amsterdam Central station and also the old city. 5 minute walk to the station. There is also a tram stop virtually outside the hotel which gives access to key landmarks. Masses of restaurants nearby - would recommend Humphreys but you will need to book. Room was good for a city centre hotel with adequate sized room and good bathroom and shower. Staff all very helpful. Didn't take breakfast.

We were upgraded for free to a view and king size bed which was greatly appreciated. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed ever stayed in. The location was perfect; close to Amsterdam Central Station for the Eurostar and the city centre. The room was of a good size for two of us. The staff that were encountered were all very friendly and helpful. Although spa/gym facilities were not used it was nice to have the option.

Perfect location if you want to be in the heart of things, clean and fairly modern, unlike many other hotels in the city center. Most interiors are older and of course narrow stairs to deal with, but Luxer has a lift. The rooms as well as the lobby has nice modern decor, oh and free coffee downstairs. Great stay the staff was amazing, will stay again when in Amsterdam.

Hotel des Arts is located directly in Amsterdam's city centre, which was great for sightseeing or going out. The Centraal Station was a 15-25 minute walk, depending on how crowded the Damrak was.
