Horley is a fairly safe town to spend the night before/after a flight. It has nice food shops & cafes. Near to Gatwick but not noisy. Quiet, pleasant. A bus ride to Crawley, an easy train to London. Not overpriced.
Best place is the 8 Bells (or is it 6 Bells?!) down a residential road just off the main road & by the parish church - lovely! - its a delightful oldy-worldy country gastro pub on the doorstep, which is well-known for great food & atmosphere.
People usually find Horley pleasant... you can safely walk around & there is a Lidl & Waitrose within walking distance (in the centre)... The local Wetherspoons does a good cheap breakfast. (Later, the fish & chips/burger are ok, so ok for cheap filling food. Be warned, though, the manager could do with some improvement!)
Horley is great for overnight stays, before moving on!

This is a stupid question, I stayed at the airport, not in Horley town and I only stayed there because I had an early flight. I was not there as a tourist and I doubt anyone would be, as it is an airport town!

This was just a short 24hr transit of international flights, but the hotel location at the airport terminal and access to the train station (to London and elsewhere) could not have been more convenient

Convenient and very near the south terminal. Clean and efficient . Breakfast selection good but dining room far too hot ! Quick check-in and no standing on ceremony. Modern rooms - fairly new block of bedrooms.

We love to stop in Horley.
We love to stop in Horley. It has a fabulous pub and is very walkable. Usually we spend a little more time in horley but we were more limited in our time this trip as our flights had a shorter turn around time. Horley is a wonderful little spot to relax for a few days and the public transit is very easy to use especially for out of country travellers.
Its proximity to airport was awesome, walkable right there, We came in late from international flight and had to leave early- both the late night staff and the early staff were very helpful. We had to schedule a bus transfer to another location and the staff helped to explained our options well- highly recommend this hotel if your using Gatwick airport and or connecting to Heathrow. Yummy breakfast at 6:30.National bus service is about an hour transfer between Gatwick and Heathrow
Ideally located in walking distance of Horley railway station for the 2 minute train journey to Gatwick (£2.20 adult single)
The owners will do a drop off for £15.00 if requested which includes the airport drop off fee.
We received a very good welcome and introduction from the owners and our room fully met our expectations.
We took the option to leave our car at the property and good care was taken to keep it safe and greet us on our return from the airport.
Lovely staff at a nice little hotel convenient to Gatwick and perfect for a layover. The room was a nice size, bed very comfortable with nice linens, bathroom was compact but good shower and nice towels with a warm towel rack. The hotel has a nice lounge area and dining room and the staff are incredibly friendly. The front desk made check in and out super easy and quick and the shuttle at all hours for insanely early flights was a huge help! Highly recommend.
The location is good, "landside" by Gatwick South arrivals. If you see Wetherspoons above and in front of you take the lifts in the right hand corner to level zero to get to the hotel. Check in was quick. My cabin was down a step, other cabins were up a step. The cabin is very small but I managed OK with the bed. The shower and toilet area was small but worked fine with provided shampoo and shower gel/bodywash. 4 UK sockets available to charge items.
The room was very spacious and it was quite easy to get to on public transport. It's about 7 minutes from Horley Station.. There is a Waitrose and restaurants near bye. I was traveling out of Gatwick early in the morning but could have got there very easily on Public Transport as their was a bus stop to Gatwick that runs through the night directly opposite as well as the train. I enjoyed it more than the usual airport hotels as it was different.
The price was excellent and good value (although I may have been lucky as on a subsequent visit to Gatwick the price was much higher). It is possible to walk from the airport (I was lucky to find the section of the Sussex Border Path that will get you from North Terminal to the Travelodge and from there you are on pavements). There are plenty of pubs and restaurants in Horley which is not too far away.
Before our visit we had seen some poor reviews. Therefore we were really happy to see how lovely this place is. The staff are really polite and helpful. The decoration and cleanliness of the hotel is absolutely spotless. For a nearby stay to Gatwick airport with parking and shuttle I recommend Acorn lodge hotel. Hard working dedicated staff. We will visit again. Alastair and Helena Donnelly room 53
Greta location for those taking an early flight from Gatwick. The hotel is around 10 min away on foot from the train station.
After having an issue with our shower, the owner offered himself to give us a lift to the airport early in the morning, waking up specifically for that. Very kind, mindful and caring. They keep the hotel clean and comfortable. The area is very quiet, and comfortable beds.
Located in the Gatwick airport, this is a great hotel if you are leaving or coming to London and you need a place to rest while waiting for your airplane or after a long flight.
The room and the bathroom were very clean and the staff was nice and friendly.
The internet was good and we also had a big TV in the room.
They also offer free complimentary hot drinks which was great.
The staff at the hotel were all exceptional. We were met by Forough on reception who was very helpful and arranged a room upgrade for us. Mustafa carried our bags to the room and was so cheerful. Margo who managed the 8th floor lounge area took great care of us. They all added to a very pleasant stay and we would certainly return when flying from Gatwick.
We needed a convenient, comfortable hotel for our early morning flight out of Gatwick. The Hilton was perfect. It's connected to the south terminal with a covered walkway and a 5-10 minute walk, so even if it's raining, there's no problem getting to the airport at any time of day or night and the room was clean and comfortable.
LOVED the location. I have stayed in Horley before and this by far was the best spot. Bus station is right outside the hotel, very easy to get to and from Gatwick using the bus. A 2 block or so walk into the main town square. SO close! Very comfy bed, easy check in and check out. I will definitely be staying here again!
The service was excellent - very convenient pick-up in hotel minibus from Gatwick (minutes away). The room was extremely comfortable with a good shower. I enjoyed being in Horley - various good local pubs to choose from, and there's also a restaurant at the hotel. Perfect for anyone overnighting before a flight.
1. Great location - bus stop right outside the hotel to the airport (early morning too). Very good proximity to Gatwick airport, the area is superb, with nice houses. There is a Waitrose to buy food and a few takeaways.
2. Super rooms- The room was cosy and warm, nice sofa, TV, clean, and the ensuite was nice.
The host was very friendly and helpful. The room was a nice size, with a small sitting area. Walking distance to the train station. Minutes from Gatwick. A sweet little village-like vibe here. Definitely pick this location if you need a place near Gatwick airport!
