Laguna Lachua is a category one national park, also has a worldwide record for being a RAMSAR site due to the conservation of biological diversity in flora and fauna. The lagoon has a circular shape and is surrounded by a rainforest rainforest north of Cobán.
Candelaria Caves National Park is a subterranean system of rivers and caves, considered among the largest and most impressive in Central America.
